Anand Mahindra: India-Bashing Must Stop!

Are we being too mean in describing the shortcomings of a country that has given us too much? Are we particularly harsh in hammering India for the challenges that have stymied its image especially during these COVID-19 riddled times, where there appears to be a shortage of everything- necessary vaccinations, medications, oxygen-producing plants and whatnot? And moreover, do we forget that the other countries too, even those that are bracketed as elite and developed could be facing perhaps the same troubles that seem to have troubled India endlessly?

With these set of questions in mind, we need to truly assess what business man, industrialist, true patriot and unquestionably Indian, Anand Mahindra had to say in his recent comments where he questioned the intent of those who are quick to lament our very own country.

Stating in no uncertain terms that the culture of India-bashing must stop and now, Anand Mahindra has shared that India isn’t the only country that finds itself staring at uncertain times and difficult challenges as the huge democracy continues its fight against a deadly virus for the second year in a row.

Now the point is, what exactly did the king of Mahindra and Mahindra have to say about the current Indian predicament in these COVID 19 times?

Sharing that the battle against COVID 19 can be won only and until all of us fight it out collectively, Anand Mahindra called on the Indians to work together and as one team instead of reflecting on the shortcomings of the country.

He was particular in pointing out that even a nation so supreme and robust infra-structurally like Japan is currently facing the grave crisis of storage of beds in hospitals.

And that if one were to only continue with the culture of India-bashing, nothing positive could ever be unearthed, shared Mr. Anand Mahindra.

A detailed report on his comments was published on NDTV that happened to share the following:

Mr Mahindra has regularly spoken on social media about the pandemic and given suggestions or retweeted ideas that others should follow in these tough times. On Tuesday, he shared a report saying that hospitals in Japan’s Osaka, a large port city and a commercial centre similar to Mumbai, are running out of beds and ventilators during a fresh wave of the pandemic.

That being said, taking to popular microblogging platform Twitter, Mr. Anand Mahindra pointed the need for collective action, as well as highlighting the fact that it isn”t India alone that’s facing a grim situation at present. His actual tweet would state the following:

The ‘japanese model’ of fighting Covid & their health infrastructure was envied. But yes, “No one’s safe anymore.” The India-bashing should stop & we need to understand that we have to heal the world TOGETHER. Osaka should try the ‘Mumbai Model.’

Truth be told, it’s only fair to note the key observations made by Mr. Anand Mahindra, a true thought leader of our times. Criticising and ridiculing never helped anyone, nor ever will. Why not act together in a moment of remarkable challenge especially when country is faced by overwhelming odds such as this? India will successfully beat the COVID 19 virus in the imminent future if it acts wisely and collectively.
