To wear or not to wear.
There are times in life where the aforementioned does appear as a vital question, a key choice basis which one has to take an important urgent decision. It could be a dress for a glitzy affair in the evening, a choicest party. Boundless confusion often precedes this very question, as you may have mentioned. Think of the trouble in choosing between a waist coat and a customised leather jacket accompanied by a dapper white shirt, neatly ironed trousers with vintage dark shoes.
But then, there are also times where one doesn’t have a choice, where one simply has to go by the law and play by the rules of the book as they say. Confused as to what is being talked about?
Well, think of the latest statement released by the Delhi High Court, aka the Delhi HC.
As it turns out, the one thing that there just cannot be any confusion whatsoever is the question of wearing a mask. These being serious times marred by the COVID 19 pandemic, that though began in summers of 2020 has continued to keep its hold of the world even as now there exists a vaccine.
So what’s making news in Delhi, folks?
Well, what else but the Delhi HC verdict on whether or not to wear mask inside the car even if you are by yourself (the only passenger on the road).
And you guessed it just right- there is no relaxation whatsoever in the law. It’s been ruled that even as it may be a private car, it is being driven in a public space and hence, the wearing of mask is absolutely compulsory, revealed the Delhi HC.
So the next time you are driving alone and wish to abstain from the face mask, think twice or you shall be definitely penalised by the authorities that be!
But make no mistake. There was for quite some time now, dissonance over the rule of wearing the face mask whilst driving in the car even as one were the only passenger out on the road.
In fact, things went to the extent of lawyers based in New Delhi petitioning the High Court over the issue of being challenged in the lanes and roads of Delhi for not wearing the face mask.
The same occurred in 2020.
But now, in giving its verdict on the same, the Delhi HC has come clean on the issue and reportedly, even chided the lawyers who raised a finger of opposition against the matter.

Factually speaking, among the many lawyers who had been challaned last year for not wearing a face mask whilst driving in Delhi was Saurabh Sharma, who had been fined INR 500. It was he who challenged the order through a petition filed last year around September!
Meanwhile, here is what renowned publication The Hindu had to report on the now-confirmed story:
Prathiba M Singh said a private vehicle on the road is a public place and it is mandatory to wear a mask even when one is travelling alone in the car.
“A mask acts as a suraksha kavach (protective shield) which would prevent the spread of the deadly virus,” the high court said, recalling that several experts, doctors and researchers have emphasised on the need to wear face masks right from the early days of the pandemic.
