The second phase of Delhi’s pollution control scheme Odd-Even starts in the national capital from today and you can see less traffic and more space on roads already. The scheme aims at battling pollution but it also benefits the traffic problem.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who came up with the idea of Odd-Even in the first place has tweeted this morning “Odd-even starts today. Let’s all join hands and resolve to make it a success.”
As per the rule of the scheme, the odd-number registration would be allowed to ply on the roads today as 15 April is an Odd-date. Any person who violates the rule would be fined with a heavy amount of Rs. 2,000.
The second phase of this Odd-Even scheme will continue till 30 April. The rule will apply between 8.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m., however the rule will not be followed on Sundays.
The guidelines of the scheme are similar to the first phase except the vehicles with students in uniform and vehicles driven by women will not be included.
The scheme is also not applicable on the vehicles that are being operated through compressed natural gas (CNG). Two wheelers vehicles and several categories of VIPs will also be exempt from the scheme.
