Noida Police Set To Launch Volunteer Programme To Help Kids Whose Parents Are Either Infected Or Dead Due To COVID!

It is often said that during the times of catastrophe, people must stand together as one to fight off the evil or a difficult phase. And the same can be said at this point in time about the Noida Police. But the question is- how so? It doesn’t make anyone an Einstein to note that these are one of the most difficult times that India has faced in its recent history. Never before in the recent decades have as many fallen to an epidemic quite as dangerous as the Coronavirus pandemic.

The region up north, i.e., Delhi NCR is severely hit by the COVID chaos. Noida is no different. Therefore, in order to take cognisance of the situation and to contain the growing number of cases, a vital step has been initiated by the Noida Police.

It has been reported that the Noida Police will soon be setting up a citizen volunteer programme in order to help children whose families have been impacted by the COVID 19 virus.

At this moment of time, our thoughts go out to those kids who have either lost their parents in the battle to COVID 19 or whose parents are caught sick due to the virus. Either ways, there are kids who are impacted and affected, and therefore, need immediate care.

At present, several individuals have sought help from the police helplines in order to seek assistance for such kids. But the key question is- just how will this forthcoming volunteer citizen’s programme going to work? It’s been told that the said programme shall be a co-ordinated effort between police, childline officials as well as the good Samaritans from the society.

Speaking from the office of DCP Crimes Against Women, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ms. Vrinda Shukla shared, “We had been receiving queries about helping children who were impacted by the pandemic. It was decided to seek help from the public on a voluntary basis and form a collective which would help children in several ways. From providing temporary accommodation to food supplies, several modalities will be figured out to ensure that children do not suffer if their families are infected. We have only begun the process and are awaiting response.”

Furthermore, the Noida Police also informed that those citizens who are signing up for the project will be working with the Childline volunteers to assist the ailing children according to the government’s regulations.

That being said, the salient features of the Noida Police-driven citizens initiative will be as follows:

Providing transportation to children

Providing timely meals to children

Ensuring counselling and any other form of assistance in the absence of parental supervision

Sadly though, there could also be situations wherein a child loses his or her parent due to the wake of the deadly COVID 19. In such cases, measures will be initiated toward proper adoption of the said children.

Furthermore, Vrinda Shukla also added the following on the matter, “Since the childline is part of the Union Ministry, their shelter homes will receive funding as part of the project. We will also be asking for community support to raise funds. The idea is that the children, who have nowhere to go, should have an avenue.”

On Thursday, i.e, April 29, the Noida Police had reached out on Twitter encouraging individuals to join the said volunteer programme.
