New Limits Set For Delhi Amid Rise In COVID 19 Cases!

Amid the pandemic, there’s but one concern on everyone’s minds, regardless of nature of place or time of the day. It’s that one stays fit and healthy, and safe from the ongoing madness that’s taken a toll on everyone. That being said, there’s hardly a respite in major world cities, even if some of them are from the land of the COVAXIN, i.e., India.

Truth be told, there’s hardly been a momentary sigh of relief where it comes to megacities in India, such as Mumbai, a city that finds itself amid the newfound COVID-19 crisis in Maharashtra.

But speaking of a spike in cases, it appears that there’s also a rise in COVID cases in Delhi, the national capital of the country. In the last few hours, things have been a bit serious, enough for the administration to impose a new set of rules of moving about in a city where quite like Mumbai, one sees non-stop action and buoyant movement for the better part of the day.

This brings us to the key question, one that’s springing in many a mind: what new rules have been instituted amid a rise in COVID cases in Delhi and what is the administration doing about it?

For starters, it appears that the Delhi government has set a new limit for public functions and gatherings, such as marriage functions amid a time that’s siding with COVID 19. As a matter of fact, as on Saturday, a decision was taken to limit the number of attendees in private ceremonies such as marriage functions to 200.

That simply means, the cap is on 200: one cannot invite over two hundred guests in private affairs such as marriage functions. That said, what about other functions?

It can be said for certain that the same number is applicable to other open-air venues. On the other hand, one cannot have over 100 visitors or guests (or attendees) in closed-spaces in the city of Delhi.

But what about the duration until which one will observe with the above pre-set dictum?

It’s important to note that the above restrictions will be observed until the end of the next month, i.e., April 30, 2021!

That said, here’s what popular news platform India Times had to report on the ongoing matter:

Chief Secretary Vijay Dev, however, said the status quo will be maintained regarding current permissible and prohibited activities in the city.

The order stated that cap on the number of people in marriage, banquet hall, other gatherings and congregations, and in funeral needs to be imposed.

“In closed spaces, a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity will be allowed, with a ceiling of 100 people, and in open spaces numbers will be allowed keeping the size of the ground/ space in view, with a ceiling of 200 people subject to strict observance of wearing of face masks, maintaining social distancing, provision for thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitiser,” the order read.

The one key thing to note amid these times being challenged by a rise of COVID cases in Delhi is to exercise caution and maintain social distancing. It’s important to think that one’s got to watch his or her own back and cannot take things lightly at this point.
