Around 150 Beds To Be Made Ready At Vacant Flats In Gurgaon By Next Week!

As the fight against the new wave of COVID 19 gets stronger and severe, with each passing day, new measures are being taken all the time to make things better. Especially here in Delhi NCR that appears to be, in no uncertain terms, one of the worst-affected by COVID’s new coming in India. So the key question is- just how well prepared is the city of Gurgaon further down south of Delhi in this fight and what new steps are being taken to get a grip around the situation?

Well, among the key news updates as on April 28, 2021 from the city of Gurgaon is the preparation for new COVID beds in the coming days.

So what does that mean?

Well come the next week and no fewer than 150 new COVID beds shall be kept ready and prepared at those flats in and around Gurgaon that have, thus far, been vacant. The key central forces behind this much-needed course of action include a mobile medical unit, an ambulance service, as well as a 24*7 helpline that will be used in the process of shifting patients to the care facility.

This key decision, as also a timely one was taken a day after an important meeting chaired by none other than the Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, wherein a decision was taken to have a tie up between a Gurgaon hospital and a real estate firm. The vacant flats belong to the real estate firm where the patients shall be shifted from the medical facility. And the whole process should be up and running at the most by the end of the approaching week.

Here is what Dr Payal Kanodia, who happens to be a trustee with the M3M Foundation shared on the massive development aimed at providing much-wanted relief to those afflicted by COVID, “We have initiated the work and 150 beds will be functional by the end of next week at our project OKR in sector 67 in Gurugram to be handed over to the Medanta hospital…an additional 250 beds will be ensured in the month of May.”

Further to this, a report pertaining to this critical Gurgaon story published on Indian Express emphasised on the logistics and operation of the key idea, “Officials said the facility will be run and managed by Medanta hospital and will function as a step-down facility, where “less-critical patients” will be admitted on the basis of their health status “through a referral procedure developed with the support of Medanta”. A mobile medical unit, ambulance service, and 24X7 helpline will also be set up for shifting patients from the Covid care centre to the hospital, said officials.”

Moving on, it must be noted that among the regions that have been facing a severe shortage of COVID beds happens to be Gurgaon. According to official estimates, no fewer than 3,000 cases are being recorded nearly every day. It was only last week when a directive was issued by none other than Gurgaon’s Deputy Commissioner Mr. Yash Garg who had asked for 60 percent of the beds to be reserved under the general category while 75 percent of ICU and ventilator beds were told be reserved for the COVID patients.

It now remains to be seen how soon and well can the city handle the pandemic and tread off to a better path.
