Delhi Schools Shall Remain Shut At Least Until October 31

While the students from the national capital of the country may not exactly react negatively to the news but from a general consensus, the biggest news where the education sector in Delhi stands firmly with taking care and precaution amid the Coronavirus scare.

Why so? Well simply down to the fact that the schools in Delhi are to remain shut until October 31. Yes, that’s right: which makes the announcement confirmed until the very end of October.

When might the schools in Delhi open post that- whether our children shall be back to the temple of education starting the month of November- it’s frankly not clear as of now.

But the only confirmation is that the government hasn’t changed its mind for the moment and wishes to place the health and personal safety of the students of the country’s national capital at the highest-possible pedestal for the moment.

The Deputy Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, who also happens to hold the education portfolio- Mr. Manish Sisodia– in an interaction with the Hindustan Times, confirmed the development now making news from the stable of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, as he said:

The decision to keep schools shut in Delhi will be extended. I have issued directions for closure of all schools in Delhi till October 31. An order on this will be issued soon.

That being said, here’s what Live Mint reported on the story:

Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16 when the Centre announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as part of measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

On March 25, the central government announced a nationwide lockdown to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

As per the latest unlock guidelines, schools, colleges and other educational institutions can reopen outside containment zones after October 15. However, the decision on whether to reopen educational institutions has been left with states and union territories.

The above told, it’s not hard to note why 2020 has been such a difficult year for also academicians and students from around the world. While businesses, enterprises, and organisations have found the cradle of their foundations shocked to the core, things haven’t been all that well for those pursuing academic goals. Not only because many colleges, schools and universities have had to proceed with last minute changes in their educational curriculums, but several examinations, that guarantee students a better and stable course in their future were called off.

The only hope now is to witness a better and smooth 2021. But before that, there’s nearly a quarter to go in a year where nothing’s quite gone right for any nation around the planet.

Students, who are the foundation of our world, the epitome of a prosperous future have, for the better part of this year, been distanced from teachers and educators, embracing the new norm: online classes. But is that going to change come 2021? We are still at some distance from knowing that- isn’t it? In an age of information and technology, when will hardbound books, diaries, and notepads return to the classroom?
