23-Year-Old Commuter, Who Jumped In Front Of Delhi Metro Is Dead

In one of the more grotesque pieces of news from the capital city, a 23-year-old youngster jumped in the front of a Delhi Metro rail and paid with the forfeit of life.

The incident took place on June 18, 2019 and happened at a busy station during the peak afternoon hour rush of 2 P.M.

The sad occurrence took place at a station that falls on the busy yellow line, in the heart of the city. It also became known that the person who jumped to his death was actually undergoing treatment for depression.

The 23-year-old man was a resident of Delhi and had actually been taking medication for the past 2 years. Sadly, he would jump in front of the ever-dangerous metro rail which would take his life and plunge his family in an irreparable blanket of grief.

It also became known that in the immediate aftermath of the Delhi metro incident, on a usually busy Tuesday afternoon, the yellow line service was halted for a good 15-20 minutes as police assembled at the scene to take cognisance of the ill-fated episode.

Revered news platform NDTV published more details about the sad incident and happened to share the following:

The train bound for Huda City Centre station was approaching a platform at the Civil Lines station when the man jumped in front of it and was run over by it. We informed police immediately,” a senior DMRC official said.

The body has been removed from the tracks and sent to a mortuary in Sabzi Mandi area, a senior police official said.

The victim was a resident of Jagatpur in Delhi, he said.

His father said Nitin was undergoing treatment for depression for the last two years at a hospital, the police official said.

At present, the case is being investigated under Section 174 of the code of Criminal Procedure.
