Lucky woman? Here’s the most thrilling survival story of the year so far

Imagine falling off from the balcony of your 1st-floor apartment in a plush urban city’s residential colony? A fall down from the very first floor and no higher than that might perturb an individual endlessly. Isn’t it? Say, the worst of its kind fall happen to you?

Who would ever be able to deal with the fiasco easily? But you’ve got to applaud the freakish episode of this daring woman who survived a great fall, one of a kind and is still breathing and walking on her two feet.

Angela Hernandez seems to be an ordinary woman’s name. Instead, from now on, it will go on to reverberate in the world’s widest corners for being that of a woman who survived a dreadful fall. Interestingly, that’s not the only thing worth telling about the American woman.

That she can’t even remember much about her own incident is the pretty highlight of an episode that actually shouldn’t have happened in the first place. She came crashing down from an ocean cliff in Southern California recently and believe it or not, survived and is breathing well.

At 23, an age where like most others her age get busy settling into their early career periods and finishing with their post-graduate degrees or programs, balancing work time with recreation time Angela too was on a brief recreation time, hitting the Big Sur, all the way from Portland, Oregon.

Next up, she remembers waking up, absolutely trapped in her SUV whilst driving all the way to Southern California. And here’s the worst part- what she also remembers are the 7 long days she battled to survive in her car. What she doesn’t recollect-however- is the worst part of the physical damage that she endured.

Can you guess what that is?

It’s related to breaking her collarbone, fracturing her ribs and going as far as losing the air in one of her lungs. How painful and dreadful would that sight have been for someone who would indeed have remembered it? One simply can’t imagine.

The horrible incident is known to have occurred only a few days back. In fact, it took place, precisely around July 6, not even a fortnight ago in California, United States.

Here’s what the survivor of the horrific incident had to share, although she couldn’t be immediately traced on the social media

The past week has been unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my entire life,” Hernandez wrote in a Facebook post over the weekend.

And here’s what had happened exactly. The physical damage and wrecking ball of the incident known, the greater detail actually is attributed to preventing running over an animal on the runway.

The woman, Angela Hernandez, was driving away peacefully to the Big Sur when she suddenly saw a small animal and tried her level best to avoid hitting it. That is precisely when her car lost the balance it had required to be managed in such an untenable situation, finally veering off the edge of a nearby cliff.

The end result would be utterly and miserably painful and fraught with injuries for the sufferer but nothing that happened would be remembered.

“The only thing I really remember after that was waking up,” she wrote. “I was still in my car and I could feel the water rising over my knees. My head hurt and when I touched it, I found blood on my hands.” In addition, to detailing the incident, the said woman shared, the windows were rolled up, and the power was out.

Sun-burned, hungry and devastated, not knowing what had exactly happened- one can only contend with the fact that the woman was lucky to survive.

“When I woke up, it was still daylight and it was only then that I had finally realized what had happened,” she wrote. “I stood up onto my feet and noticed a huge pain in my shoulders, hips, back, and thighs. I saw nothing but rocks, the ocean, and a cliff that I knew I’d never be able to look over. I could see my car not too far from me, half washed up on shore with the roof ripped off of it.”

Thankfully, some rescue workers would spot the giant SUV from a distance as a search had already been commissioned for the missing Hernandez by then. The Monterey County Sherriff’s office was personally monitoring the case. Interestingly, before being rescued eventually, the woman shared she had dreamed of being rescued and would watch cars passing over the Highway 1 on Big Sur previously for days together.
