A Pakistani High Commission staff member was arrested on Thursday as he was in possession of Indian Defence related documents. The person identified as Mehmood Akhtar, was released by the Crime Branch after questioning due to diplomatic immunity.
Mehmood was arrested after Delhi Police detained two other spies who gave the information about Mehmood Akhtar and his possession of defence related documents.
According to the officials, the documents recovered from him are of great importance to the Indian Defence and could have proven dangerous for the Indian Army, if leaked.
Pakistani High Commissioner has also been summoned by Ministry of External Affairs regarding the increasing ceasefire violations by Pakistani Troops along the Line of Control (LOC). A BSF Jawan died on Thursday after fighting from his injuries caused by one of these mortar shelling attacks in R.S Pura Sector of Jammu.
The number of attacks along LOC has increased rapidly since Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on militant camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
