Israel’s future, truth be told, now rests clearly in the hands of Benny Gantz and current Prime Minister Benjanmin Netanyahu. So in that regard, the road to the future only seems to point in one direction. In all likelihood, the future government that will guide the famous Jewish homeland to its new direction will rest in the hands of a coalition government.
Surely, gone are the days, as it seems, basis the recent polls, where only Benjamin Netanyahu would be calling the shots about the famous country in the heart of the Middle East.
In fact, here’s a fact.
No other country in the entirety of the Middle East, believe it or not, has had as many elections in the past half a decade as Israel.
As a matter of fact, in less than one full year, the country has experienced as many as 3 elections. Now if that’s not some number- then what is?
Something does tell us that where the political structuring and forming of the government is concerned, there’s going to be a lot about how Benny Gantz, formerly, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces (the famous IDF, from 2011 to 2015) conducts himself.
Of late, the word in the media has it that while Gantz, who happens to lead the Blue and White (or as they say, a Centrist Liberal party) is prepared to have negotiations and talks with Netanyahu, the ball is resting in the latter’s court.
Whether Netanyahu is keen to rest his political ambitions to form a coalition government has been the subject of a long standing debate.
In fact, the country does want to know which clear direction is it to sail in the coming days. And where that is concerned, here’s some refreshing change in the wind.
In what comes across as a welcome step forward in the direction of forming a new government, it now appears that both Gantz and Netanyahu are willing to drop their political deadlock and resume the talks sooner than later.
Currently, the country, much like the rest of the world, is enduring a climate of an absolute lockdown. But that does not mean that the future’s leaders are going to sit inactive as has been the order of the day.
Right?
What had made news recently, before Israel shut itself down much akin to the rest of the world was the clear indication of will from Gantz’ end to approach the Prime Minister Netanyahu to initiate talks regarding formation of the government.

In fact, the 60-year-old army veteran had made a national plea to decide Israel’s future along with “Bibi”, making an eleventh hour call on the media.
But it appears that there are other pressing matters too that need keen attention of the country, for instance, as many as 12,000 confirmed cases (from a country of over 12 million) which have, insofar, led to 126 deaths.
But that’s where Israel’s future stands at the moment; the winds of the future do point to a change. Who’s going to form an absolute majority is no longer even the hard matter.
Meawhile, this is what the Guardian from England reported in its assessment of Israel’s current political climate:
Hopes of a power-sharing pact remain weak. Gantz’s Blue and White party said last week that after an “all-around agreement” had been reached, Netanyahu’s Likud party suddenly resurrected old demands around judicial appointments. Likud argued that it was Gantz who had backed away.
Israeli media have speculated that Netanyahu, the country’s longest-serving leader, may have decided that he would prefer to see the stalemate continue, which would eventually trigger a fourth election.
