Where the recent numbers stand then it appears that there are as many as 12,000 foreign students in Israel at the moment. For a country that’s ever stymied by some sort of geopolitical crisis or security issue, the fact that there are 12,000 foreign students in Israel at the present moment should serve as a positive piece of news.
But this fresh piece of news comes not long after another successful news concerning Israel’s quality of education made headlines in the Middle East.
Just months ago, Jerusalem Post highlighted an important story where it emphasized that as many as 4 Israeli universities are among the world leaders in producing world-class entrepreneurs. Of these prestigious academic institutions, the names of Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Ben Gurion University of the Negev were included among the top 50 universities for undergraduate programs.
But it is believed that of the 12,000 foreign students in Israel who are present at the moment to pursue different academic interests, approximately 6,000 are short-term students who are in the Jewish state for either a summer course or a semester program.
Furthermore, what’s important to know is that there are as many as 5,000 who are in Israel (studying for) full degrees.
Now one might be interested to know as to where all do the foreign students in Israel comes from? To that end, it is worthwhile to note that most of Israel’s foreign students come from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, China, and India.
Therefore, it’s clear and noteworthy that a lot of foreign students in Israel are from Asia. In addition to that, news reports in Israel also furnished the fact that most overseas students- around 2,000 of them- come to Israel to pursue their graduation courses while somewhere around 1,800 come for their master’s programs.
Meanwhile, one of Israel’s most widely read publications, The Jerusalem Post elaborated more on the story of foreign students in Israel and happened to share:
The majority of international students are enrolled in either one of Israel’s eight public universities, in the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) or in the Jerusalem College of Technology.
CHE, to encourage students abroad to come and study in Israel, recently launched 26 new international degree programs, including STEM, innovation and entrepeneurship, and Jewish Studies.
To encourage international relations with Israeli students, CHE is encouraging universities to launch courses in English so that international students and Israeli students may study alongside one another.
A recent PitchBook study revealed that Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev were all ranked in the top 50 undergraduate programs globally “that produce the most venture capital-backed entrepreneurs,” according to Israel21.
It is part of common knowledge that the average well-read student from Israel possesses a sharp bent of mind, well versed with scientific and mathematical matters.
At the present moment, the whole of Israel is busy finding new and encouraging ways of promoting the country as a land of the distinctly knowledgeable and the scholarly, with efforts directed to make the country an excellent hub for students and researchers from around the world.
