What Advice Has South Africa Given Toward Wrapping Of Bodies Of COVID 19 Victims?

The COVID 19 victims of South Africa, as on January 28, 2021 measure somewhere in excess of 42,500. Much of 2020 in the country fondly called “Rainbow nation” (for its cultural exuberance) was a pandemic-racked event. But then that was the case for the larger part of the planet. As a matter of fact, the advice offered by the country toward wrapping the bodies of COVID 19 victims in South Africa is making important news. It is being said that the citizens of the country are being told against wrapping the bodies in plastic.

Central to South Africa’s word of caution is the fact that one mustn’t shrink wrap the bodies in plastic wraps. And that is not all?

So what is the other advice told for the wrapping of bodies of COVID 19 victims in South Africa?

What one needs to know is the following official statement of the government of South Africa that is meant for public consumption:

The Department of Health has issued health directions on the management of human remains  .. that died of Covid-19 that prescribes measures to be implemented. These directions do not prescribe the covering of coffins with plastics, use of biohazard stickers nor wearing full PPE by funeral directors or sanitising of the graves or clothes of people attending the funeral as this is unnecessary.

But there is yet more to this aforementioned development. There also happens to be a particular limit set by Health Department where it comes to the overall number of people attending a burial (or burial ceremonies).

On Thursday, i.e., 28 January, 2021 the overall COVID 19 victims in South Africa were told to be approximately, 42,550.

As a matter of fact, the country is to also receive sufficient shipments of the COVID 19 vaccines and if all goes well, then the same could come from India, as per trending news and developments, though an official word is still awaited on the same.
