Japanese Cherry Blossom Season Is Here But It Might Die Soon

No matter how eff-ed the seasons in the world (especially India) are, one can’t fail to notice that we’ve officially entered the beautiful-beautiful spring season. The one where trees and flowers and plants come back to life, only to teach the human how effervescent their existence truly is. It’s refreshing to see the road lighten up again with those green leaves and a plant-scent in the surrounding.

Even though we don’t get to see the great and larger-than-life miracle of spring in reality around ourselves, we can at least admire their beauty through pictures and videos available on the Internet.

One of those beautiful miracles of spring happens every year in Japan when the Cherry Blossom season begins. The streets and parks and life in Japan just magically transform into a paradise, the one you won’t be able to take your eyes off.

Sadly, there’s a big threat surrounding the cherry blossom season. A warning has been given out by the authorities stating that a foreign species of beetle from mainland Asia could decimate the nation’s cherry trees in just a few years.

Identified as red-necked longhorn beetle, this creature is considered to be extremely dangerous for the Cherry Blossoms. The beetles were first identified in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, in 2012 and are believed to have entered the country in cargoes of timber from China, Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia, as reported by South China Morning Post.

In order to save the trees from dying out, the local authorities have been forced to cut down trees as no effective pesticide exists to exterminate the beetles. However, there’s some hope for the Cherry Blossoms. German scientists, for example, have been successful in developing a method of killing the beetles without harming the tree.

However, till then, people are uploading some really beautiful pictures of the season on their social media for the world to witness. Check them out over here:

Don’t you want to just to transport to Japan to catch the sight of this magical Cherry Blossom season by yourself, before they vanish forever?
