It’s not that easy to be healthy and fit for a lifetime everywhere. We bring you the list of Healthiest Countries in the World.

The New York-based media company Bloomberg has published a study in 2019 showing the healthiest countries in the world. ranking is based on health variables and risks. Bloomberg assessed natural life expectancy and estimated behavioral risk factors such as smoking or obesity. The index also takes into account environmental features such as access to clean water and sanitation.

The data from 169 countries worldwide was analyzed. For the international comparison, a health score with a maximum score of 100 points was developed. After subtracting the calculated health risks, the nations were listed in the result.

In 2019, five European countries were among the Top 10. The two largest economies, the USA and China, are not among the best.

So, here is the list of the Healthiest Countries in the World.

10. Israel

Israel loses a place compared to the previous ranking, but still manages to secure a place in the list of the Healthiest Countries in the World with a score of 88.2. Researchers think that eating habits could give an indication of the level of health in Mediterranean countries. In Israel too, mainly vegetarian Mediterranean food is eaten and the country has a high consumption of healthy fats like olive oil and nuts.

9. Norway

Thanks to the good health system, Norway achieves 89 points, an improvement of two places compared to previous years. Thus, this year, Norway also achieves a place in the top 10 Healthiest Countries in the World.

8. Singapore

Although, Singapore ranks among the top three countries with the highest life expectancy in the world, the Southeast Asian country is far worse off than it was in 2018 in the list of Healthiest Countries in the World. Singapore has slipped four places behind compared to previous year.

7. Australia

Australia is one of the countries with the highest quality of life worldwide. In the list of the Healthiest Countries in the World, the Australian subcontinent loses two places and secures only seventh place.

6. Sweden

For Sweden, this year’s rankings went up two places. With 90.2 points Sweden is the 6th country with the best health in the list of Healthiest Countries in the World.

5. Switzerland

Switzerland is not only one of the happiest, but also the healthiest countries in the world. The Swiss enjoy above-average health. With a score of 91, the country loses three places compared to the previous ranking, but still makes it into the top 5 Healthiest Countries in the World. The high life expectancy in Switzerland has a positive effect on the ranking.

4. Japan

Japan overtakes Singapore and moves up four places. With 91.4 points, Japan secured the title for the healthiest country in Asia and 4th place amongst 10 Healthiest Countries in the World. The food culture of the Japanese is considered to be very balanced and healthy and the practice of traditional relaxation techniques also has a positive effect on the health of the Japanese.

3. Iceland

Iceland is sparsely populated and most people live in the capital Reykjavik. Iceland is one of the richest and most developed countries in the world. The excellent drinking water quality and the exemplary health system of the country allow a rating of 91.4 points and third rank in the list of Healthiest Countries in the World.

2. Italy

Italy slips back in the 2019 ranking. With a score of 91.6, the country is just behind the winner with being the 2nd most healthiest country in the world. The diet and the warmth have a positive effect on the health of the Italians.

1. Spain

With 92.8 out of 100 points, Spain achieves the crown of the healthiest country in the world, thus improving by five places compared to the previous year. With a life expectancy of 86 years for women and 80 years for men, Spain is ahead of every other country in the world.

India ranks 120th in the list of healthiest countries in the world. It will take years for us to be amongst the best. Though, it is also necessary that we bring the old eating habits back and live according to our ancestral knowledge. After all, our ancestors guided us to live a healthy life and not to get sick rather than getting treatment.
