Harrowing Update From London With Respect To The Coronavirus

There are no two ways about it, for it can only be described in one way no other: ghastly, troublesome, worry-causing! And you may run out of the adjectives. Where it stands at the moment, then it appears that even with the advent of and the subsequent distribution of the AstraZeneca vaccine, trouble is still brewing in Her Majesty’s Kingdom here in the heart of the London city.

Wondering what’s causing the grimace? What may have possibly gone wrong in these COVID-vaccine times?

Well, it appears that there are, at this point in time, no fewer than 140,000 in the city of London who suffer from symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

But that, make no mistake, is not some random figure. News reports confirm the fact that a total of 698,405 individuals in London have been diagnosed with the disease, of which 139,681 have either suffered or are currently suffering from long-term consequences as a result of having contracted the Coronavirus.

Anyone wondering just what does a ghastly scenario seem like does not have to look elsewhere. Now, here’s a key question in midst of this chaotic bit of finding?

Just what may have led to such a large population residing in London contracting the virus? News outlets are of the view that the healthcare gaps that may have left one with struggle to get immediate medical help might have led to such distressing scenario.

But in order to address the situation, a letter was addressed by the distinguished London Assembly to the city’s Mayor Mr. Sadiq Khan, in a bid to take stock of the situation. The idea here being to seek assurances whether the medical system in the English capital is able to address the situation.

Efforts have been made to seek answers as to whether the healthcare system in London has the capacity to cope with the long-term results of the pandemic.

The common symptoms, at this point in time, in the English capital city see individuals complaining of any of the following:

Fatigue

Breathlessness

Brain Fog

These, it is believed, persist for a period of upto 12 weeks or more, according to a finding by an English newspaper.

Furthermore, at least one in five persons has been complaining about the aforementioned symptoms, directly linked to the COVID 19 health scare.

A report published on the ongoing grave matter in the city of London had the following to share:

“Some people experiencing long Covid have been unable to work or walk 10 meters without needing to take a break. Our city must be prepared to treat those who are experiencing prolonged symptoms,” Onkar Sahota, who chairs the Assembly’s health committee, told the newspaper.

At least 10 long Covid-19 clinics have been established in London, including at University College London Hospitals, Imperial College Healthcare and St George’s, the newspaper said.

When might things get better is a question whose answer rests in the lap of the future. Though, a thing can be said for certain: just because there exists an antidote to the condition, it can’t be said that all is well and things have retreated to a position of normalcy.
