5 Things To Do, This Geek Pride Day!

Geek Pride Day is an initiative to promote the geek culture and is celebrated every year on 25th May. The day was introduced to bring people, with similar taste, closer together so that they can geek out about awesome things together.

The main reason behind Geek Pride Day is celebrated on 25th May is because on this very day in 1977, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, was released. This marks a momentous day in the history of geek culture, as Star Wars is basically said to be the start force for geeks all over the world, which is still alive after some 50 years of its existence.

After Star Wars, various things came in the market that inducted the Geek culture even more and it is now working in full force. Every franchise and game want to reach that top spot, however, very few have actually achieved it. From comic books to comic books turned movies and tv shows, geeks are freaking out with every new release. Geek culture almost seems like a small clique or club that takes in those who are like minded with other people.

Apart from Geek Pride Day, today is also ‘Towel Day’, which is celebrated by fans of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ author Douglas Adams. Fans all over the world, carry a towel in his honour.

1. Organise A Themed Party

Organise a themed party, and call all your geek friends to come and enjoy the day while discussing your favourite thing in the universe.

2. Costume Party

We really want you to party, so organise a costume party and ask everyone to come while being completely dressed up for the occasion.

3. Organise A Sit Down Discussion

There are various plot twists and conspiracies that people have about a show or movie, how about you invite a bunch of your friends and have a full blown discussion about it? Interesting, right?

4. Pop Quizzes

If you’re not a party person, then explore the Internet for all kinds of things related to your shizz. You can go through some pop quizzes and how about sending the results to your friends. Know how well you remember your idols.

5. Go Through Fandoms

How about going through some fandom, or even best, make your contribution to the fandom. You can probably read a bunch of fan-fictions or even write one by yourself and then share it with the masses.
