The world has evolved way too far than our ancestors could think of, and women empowerment is considered as the next step in human evolution. We are trying to overcome the fact that male dominating society is just an anomaly of human history, not the natural state of human species and are focusing on empowering women to restore the equality of the sexes.

Between all the progress that we are making deliberately, there are still some Asian and African nations that are dangerous for women. From Gender-based discrimination to female foeticide, domestic violence to rapes, women living in the listed countries encounter these common problems every now and then, in fact, in some countries genital mutilation is still practiced on women.

Such miserable countries are the most unsafe place for women and they should implement safety and security measures as soon as possible to create a more peaceful world for women.

1. Afghanistan

87% of the female population of Afghanistan is illiterate. At an early age of 15-19 years, girls are forced to get married and the maternal mortality ratio of Afghanistan is 400 in 100,000 in this country.

2. The Democratic Republic of Congo

American Journal of Public Health reported that around 1,150 women face sexual harassment every day in Congo. Gender discrimination and domestic violence are also some common problems in the society.

3. India

Female infanticide, human trafficking, child marriage and gang rape are some common problems that women have to undergo in India. According to the research around 50 million cases of female infanticide have been reported over the last 30 years in India.

4. Somalia

95% women in Somalia face genital mutilation around the ages of 4-11. The African country is devoid of law and order, and high maternal mortality, sexual abuse and child marriage are some other problems faced by the women of Somalia.

5. Colombia

According to the reports of National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Science, Colombia had the highest number of gender-based violence cases in 2010. Male supremacy is still intact in their culture as they move freely in the country without any charges laid on them which saves them from feeling the guilt of their misconduct. However, the country has few organizations that provide post-violence care to the victims but they receive any justice for the physical and mental trauma.

6. Egypt

The judicial system of Egypt doesn’t protect the rights of women and according to the UNICEF statistics in 2014, more than 27 million women have faced female genital mutilation. Sexual harassment and domestic violence are common problems that women face in this country. They remain deprived of their rights to marriage, inheritance, child custody and divorce.

7. Mexico

Like Colombia, Mexico too doesn’t protect women against domestic and Sexual abuse legally. Only a few women till today have reported sexual assault and such cases are dealt with disrespect, doubt and indifference in Mexico.

8. Brazil

According to the reports, in every 15 seconds, a woman is assaulted and in every two hours a woman gets killed in Brazil. Except in severe health disorder or rape, abortions are banned in Brazil and women who opt to abort the child have to serve a three-year term in prison.

9. Pakistan

Pakistani women commonly get exposed to the dangers like acid attacks, forced or child marriages, punishment by stoning and domestic violence. The male population of the country follows several malpractices that are completely unethical. Pakistan has the highest rates of honor killings and dowry murders.

10. Thailand

Thailand is one of the most famous tourist destination and despite that sexual assaults are common in the country. Thailand Domestic Violence Information Center suggests that due to excessive consumption of drugs and liquor, gender-based violence is common in Thailand.
