Pierce Brosnan’s ‘Pan Bahar Ad’ Is Banned From TV

A few weeks ago Internet was taken by storm with Pierce Brosnan advertisement for Pan Bahar. He was seen in various still ads, plus a full-fledged ad made for television and youtube. It featured salt-and-pepper Pierce Brosnan in a sharp-looking suit, arriving in a flashy car and performing all James Bond-esque stunts along with few Bond-like females just for glamour. All this was trolled very hard with countless jokes on twitter and other social media.

However, the advertisement has been banned from television and would no longer be able to see the light of Indian television’s audience. Central Board of Film Certification chief, Pahlaj Nihalani, mentioned that while he hasn’t seen the ad himself but all advertisements that promote alcohol, tobacco and pan masala are automatically banned from appearing on tv.

Nihalani has also added that it is very hard to believe that Pierce Brosnan has done an ad like this.

On the ban, Pan Bahar has said that they are being targeted on wrong grounds as their product does not feature any tobacco or nicotine which could be harmful to those who are consuming it. They have added to this that their product is an Indian mouth freshener which has Betelnut, Kewra, Catechu, Sandalwood Oil, Cardamom seeds and lime in it.

As per them, they have contributed to the ‘Make In India’ campaign by introducing Pierce Brosnan to the Indian market and publicising an Indian product. They have denied any allegations of their product having any life-threatening results and felt that there is a lack of awareness about it among the people.
