The Beatles’ Paul McCartney Wants You To Quit Meat For ‘One Day A Week’

Paul McCartney is probably the favourite or the second favourite Beatle for most people out there. He has been a very crucial and noteworthy component of the rock n’ roll past and if every Beatles’ fan was to comply with McCartney’s proposition of quitting meat for ‘one day a week’ – Monday, then we can immediately see a huge dip in meat consumption.

This short film, featuring the McCartney family, Stella McCartney and Mary McCartney, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, highlights the environmental impact of animal agriculture and encourages people to help by eating less meat.

“There’s a simple but significant way to help protect the planet and all its inhabitants”, says Paul to the camera. “And it starts with just ‘one day a week’. One day without eating animal products can have a huge impact in helping maintain that delicate balance that sustains us all.”

Livestock production results in vast amounts of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere and this has been pushing all of us and our future generations toward some dire consequences. Growing livestock for food, animal agriculture, requires increasingly unsustainable levels of resources, including land, water, and energy, something that our earth and we can’t afford, anymore.

This short film is a part of the Meat Free Monday Campaign which has till now received an incredible response, since its launch in 2009. Some of the biggest contributors to this campaign are the world’s leading authorities on climate change that are constantly endorsing meat reduction as an effective way of fighting global warming.

Paul McCartney, who himself has been a vegetarian for past 40 years, believes that we all can do something for the environment and quitting meat for just ‘one day a week’, is the first step of that process.

Meat Free Monday’s aim is to raise awareness among the people and inspire them to make a change in their diets from an easily achievable starting point. So, how many of you would like to start on it, from next Monday?
