BigShort has come up with a brilliant short film titled India Tomorrow – In Defence of Freedom and from the content to the casting it carves a thick line in our hearts. Donning the character of Saadat Hasan Manto, Nawazuddin Siddiqui outcasted his previous performances as he projected the Indo-Pakistani writer, playwright and author to the perfection on screen.
Manto, whose writings were once considered as refuge amongst the readers of literary universe is now considered as one of the best writers of his time and the content of the movie introduces us that, how his thoughts always sunk into the oceans of dilemma that society creates for the sake of humanity and how his inner self wouldn’t let him look away and stop writing about the harsh, saddening yet enlightening reality of the world. Siddiqui has done his job brilliantly and we bet the content of this short film will make you dive deep in your heart and think- Why people always restrict the freedom of speech in the name of pseudo-sanity?

Nandita Das, who has always been associated with thought provoking content has made this movie and brought the inner self of Monto alive on screen. She has shown us how fearless Monto was and how he never backed down from being a mirror to the society through her writings. He had always carved those words to show how ugly humanity has become and how we all are running away from the reality of life in search of happiness in social malaise.
