Woman Carries Husband On Her Back To Get A Disability Certificate

We have seen various instances in which the people, tired of malfunctioning government offices and their officials, decided to take matters into their own hands. In fact, the misery of not working government offices has brought out the worst in public now, where everyone is ready to do anything in order to escape them.

In a recent addition to a plethora of such incidents is this one where a woman decided to carry her husband on her back to a government office, in order to get a disability certificate. She had to resort to this as their family was unable to get a wheelchair to carry his husband around.

Identified as Bimla Devi, her husband underwent an operation in which his leg was amputated after suffering from a medical condition. And, since that day, Bimla was trying her best and running from one government office to another in order to get a disability certificate for her husband.

However, all she came across was sheer negligence from the official at the office, because of which no progress was made in getting the certificate. When she went to the Chief Medical Officer’s office to get a disability certificate made for her husband, they were asked to get a photograph clicked. With no wheelchair to take him to the studio, the poor woman had no choice, but to carry him on her back.

“What am I supposed to do? This is our compulsion. We went to many different offices but still have not got the certificate,” she said. “I did not go to work because we had to come here today. I can’t come another day,” as reported by the Indiatimes.

Upon watching the video, UP Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary commented, “It is a sad incident to happen in a civilised world. We will inspect the case and help accordingly.”

In fact, the video went so viral that the CMO was quick to act upon the application and issued the certificate.

It’s sad to see that only the story of a tragedy that gets viral on the Internet, have a fair share of trade in real life. As for others, they’ll have to get viral and reach the people in order to make their voice and struggles heard.
