The Volocopter Aims To Be In Operation For Paris Olympics 2024!

Urban transport has already undergone a sea change today. What’s most important from a consumer point of view, is to cover miles today in the most feasible form, whilst little is reserved for ownership of the asset. What occupies the foremost priority for travellers or daily commuters is to move from point A to B in the most convenient form.

And with the world’s population is ballooning, hitting north all the time, cities clogged with ceaseless traffic jams, ownership of private vehicles becoming increasingly a stress point, the best way to commute today is to acquire taxis. Interestingly, it’s no longer a surprise that the concept of taxis has changed to an extent that with roads being overly consumed by bustling jams, the concept has taken to the skies.

And hence we have air taxi brands like Volocopter today that are among the first to enter a space that, at least, to this day, isn’t extremely cluttered. A famous German air taxi brand, Volocopter has already made news for successfully initiating a headline-making act.

So what is that?

Volocopter, as of Monday, i.e., June 22, 2021 performed its first trial air taxi operation- an electrical air taxi- in the nation of France in a special show. The aim for the prominent German brand in the space of air taxi operations is now to find a place in one of the most revered sporting extravaganzas in the world. So what premier sporting event is that? To that end, it’s important to know that it is none other than the upcoming mecca of all international sporting events- the Olympics, slated to be held in Paris in the year 2024.

The trial run of the electrical air taxi by Volocopter took place at the Le Bourget airport, near Paris and marked the successful completion of the Bruchsal-based German company. This could well signal a major first step toward initiating a massive stride forwards for a brand whose time truly has come. For how else can one describe it?

Meanwhile, a Reuters report happened to publish the following on the development:

The clear intention for Paris 2024, the objective is to actually have a regular service in operation,” Volocopter Chief Executive Florian Reuter said. “That’s a challenge.”

Reuter said the flying taxi service would initially be operated by a fully licensed pilot in order to comply with existing regulations.

Over time… we want these vehicles to fly fully automated, so you will not need a pilot licence anymore,” he added.

Reuter described the urban mobility market as “gigantic”. “Urban mobility is a more than 10 trillion dollar market,” he said. “We estimate that, by 2035, we can serve a market that has around $300 billion (roughly Rs. 22,24,820 crores) in opportunity.”

All of that said, the Alexander Zosel and Stephan Wolf founded company is about to stretch its global wings in a different kind of world. A world that badly needs phenomenal, convention-defying ideas such as Volocopter these being days where resources are stymied by a population over dependant on them amid a world so desperately needing ground breaking solutions that lie at an intersection of creativity and technology.
