There are stars in cricket. Then there are mega stars. There are superstars and then, icons. Timeless cricketing jewels who shall never be forgotten! Perhaps no longer incorrect to place the legendary MS Dhoni in the last bracket that allows only decorated names, much like a Wasim Akram, Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, Sir Don Bradman or a Jack Kallis as being jewels in a firmament made up of greats. An absolute live wire on the pitch, whether for his exploits with the bat or behind the wicket (adorning the keeping gloves) and a mega hitter of the ball who could spark a run-chase going nowhere with timely hits over the fence, the legend of MS Dhoni shall never be forgotten. Rather, on the contrary, it is continuously expanding even as MS Dhoni is no longer associated with Indian cricket.
A year and a half back in the day, when MS Dhoni called time on a glittery career, tears were shed, hearts were broken and hopes dashed to the ground. The man who won us two World Cups and a Champion’s Trophy would no longer be seen as an active Indian cricketer. But then the greats, thanks to what they come to accomplish move on, to one field to another.
Luckily, the IPL is still here and going strong, due to which we all can see one of our all-time favourite cricketers on the battlefied.
Yet, is there something else that occupies MS Dhoni’s time and requires effort of him?
Apparently, it ought to be said that instead of being this lazy person who’s made tons of money and would now, post-retirement would like to sit back and take things easy, the famous right-handed batsman has been leading an active life.
His most recent assignment before it was rightly suspended was the IPL 2021, wherein MS Dhoni led his troops in the renowned CSK unit, and now, hours earlier, he wrapped up a shoot with none other than Farah Khan.
To those who may be wondering whether this was a film shooting for which MS Dhoni was working hard for a debut, they need to know that it’s anything but that! As a matter of fact, for the first time ever, Farah Khan, the famous name behind movies like Om Shanti Om and Tees Maar Khan directed MS Dhoni for a TV ad.
Explaining her experiencing of directing Dhoni in the add, Khan shared, “what an amazing guy, so punctual, and so down to earth… took pictures with everyone!”
Admitting that she’s a Dhoni fan, in some ways, Farah Khan echoed the sentiment of everybody who happens to be a cricket lover in the country.
That being said, it’s not that Dhoni just did this TV commercial in the last few days; previously he landed up starring in an All-Celebrity soccer match, wherein he joined forces with famous cricketer Shreyas Iyer.
The two have been captains of their respective IPL franchises, with Iyer leading the Delhi Capitals unit.
As for the social media post placed by Farah Khan, it didn’t take long for other Bollywood celebs to lavish praise on the great cricketer. India Today happened to share a quote:
For the ad shoot, the two-time World Cup-winning captain of the Men In Blue was spotted donning Team India’s retro jersey. Bollywood actor Ranveer also commented on the post shared by Farah. “He is the best,” Ranveer commented.
Other than that, there’s also the MS Dhoni Cricket Academy, a unit of the Aarka Sports company, that bestows upon young and talented individuals high-end skills and performance and learning, key to forge a successful career in the testing sport that is cricket. Dhoni also keeps himself occupied with this great sporting endeavour!
