There Was A Huge Rush A Few Hours Back In Noida. Here’s Why!

Whether the liquor shops in Noida will continue to remain open in the days to come or will they work temporarily, we do not know but what’s certain is that it could be said, a bit of joie de vivre came about early in May 2021 for the Noida residents as some liquor shops opened on May 11.

At the same time, the District Excise Officer Mr. Rakesh Bahadur Singh has indicated that the liquor shops in Noida might remain open in the days that follow, and this development pertains to both country-made as well as foreign liquor outfits so long as the general public continues to follow social distancing norms.

To put things into perspective, the way the second wave of the Coronavirus has been spreading taking into grip the country hardly sparing any region or state, in particular, it is imperative for the common public to pay respect to the social distancing norms.

That being said, the crowds of Noida were quick to rush to liquor stores in both Noida as well as Greater Nodia no sooner they opened and what one found was a huge rush, perhaps understandably so.

Meanwhile, here is what Mr. Bahadur Singh, District Excise Officer had to say on the development, “On instructions of the district magistrate, the liquor shops have been allowed to open from 10 am to 5 pm.”

Meanwhile, a news report published on the widely-known India TV, which also happens to have its headquarters in Noida reported the following:

Pictures and videos shared on social media purportedly showed people standing in queues wearing face masks or face covers while some were even seen sporting their two-wheeler helmets as they waited for their turn to buy liquor.

Social distancing was amiss at many places, according to eyewitnesses, even as district officials and police said they were making efforts to ensure observance of COVID-19-appropriate behaviour.

All of that being said, the one queue that most of us hardly have a problem in dealing with, is the one that belongs to a liquor store or a wine shop, truth be told.

For it’s truly spectacular how despite these being COVID 19 times, some of the harshest, it must be said, in recent Indian history, how long swathes of crowds can gather at a place just to get their hands on a bottle or two or maybe a pack or crate. Surely, we know a thing or two about setting the right priorities in life- don’t we!
