The Instagram Influencer Who Posted Fake Vacation Pics To Bali

Of all the things we keep hearing about in the news updates throughout the day- a piece of sports-related news that charges us up, an update about the rising prices of shares, an update regarding falling petrol and diesel prices, news concerning a startup that is supporting the social ecosystem of the world- did you ever think about something as random and funny as fake Instagram pics?

In fact, in hindsight, one could note that in a world that’s largely becoming plastic with a sense of artificiality taking over our lives, is a piece of news about fake Instagram pics even that big a surprise? For starters, we are part of a world where social media updates on just about anything are as common as someone finding a sense of news or thrill about something as ridiculous as consecutive sneezes.

But then, one wonders, why is someone even going bonkers about an influencer’s fake Instagram pics? What are these fake Instagram pics about?

Apparently, an American Instagram influencer Natalia Taylor recently took the Internet by a storm when she explained that she had used fake Instagram pics that aided in a fake a vacation to Bali. So what is all this about?

The founding theme of this stupidly funny story is about as convincing as someone being told there were people found ice-fishing in the Sahara. And what’s rather interesting is that at the heart of the American influencer’s tale about fake Instagram pics, there’s the famous furniture store from Sweden: Ikea!

NDTV, among the most widely read news platforms around shared the following:

Natalia, who has more than 3 lakh followers on Instagram, posted a series of glamorous pics on the photo and video sharing platform earlier this month. Geo-tagged ‘Bali, Indonesia’, the photos were clicked at furniture store Ikea, with clever shots making it look like they were actually clicked at a hotel room.

To make her fake trip more believable, she also posted Instagram stories with pics of Bali simply pulled off the Internet.

“The queen has arrived,” Natalia captioned the first set of pics, which show her in a pink dress, adding the hashtag #Bali.

Well, well, here we are! Part of an age where we readily and believably understand everything being told to us through social media influencers. These are demigods or something of that sort in our lives, isn’t it?

In fact, there’s also an interesting video shared by another Instagram user that explains why Ms. Taylor – who confesses herself- made the fake post about taking a vacation in Bali when all she did was to be in Ikea.

While the video has already gathered around million-plus views and is still trending big, here is what the Insta influencer had to share:

“The point of this video is to see if you really can fake it till you make it,” she said, adding that she would test her followers to see if they could figure out the fake trip.

“Don’t believe everything you see on the ‘gram,” she cautioned.
