This is a good time to be a Belgian. And apart from that, this is a great time to be a visitor to or a traveler in Belgium. After all, if there’s a sector that’s been growing exponentially, then it’s the tourism sector in Belgium, in the heart of Western Europe.

In what comes across as a piece of fantastic news, it is reported that tourism in Belgium has increased by percentage for the fourth consecutive year. An important media outlet based in the capital city, The Brussels Times, recently reported that the overnight stays in Belgium went up by as much as 7 percent in the past year (2018).

At a time where one’s been constantly jostling with a global economic slowdown, it appears that all’s sunny and raining tourists in Belgium.

Apart from the fact that there’s a hell lot of things to do in Belgium including the charming cosmopolitan vibe in Brussels, the picturesque Wallonia, the historic Ghent, and the diamond hub of Antwerp- the land of the great king Leopold gives an exquisite opportunity for travellers and revellers to understand even minuscule detail involved in brewing the perfect beer or making the most mouth-watering chocolate.

This cultural attraction to Belgium plays a massive hand in attracting visitors from different parts of the globe.

And from the onset of 2015 until 2018, it appears, where local news media stands that it’s been raining tourists all over Belgium.

At a time where one’s been constantly jostling with a global economic slowdown, it appears that all’s sunny and raining tourists in Belgium.

The vineyards in the Luxembourg and Liege provinces have been a major draw from the western tourist, with increasing numbers being recorded from China and more specifically, south-east Asia.

The Brussels Times touched upon an interesting break-up to note where is it that tourism in Belgium witnessed an inspiring hike:

Hotels were the most popular destinations, representing 49% of nights reserved. Holiday homes were next, on 16%, followed by vacation parks (10%) and youth hostels, all proportions that were similar to those for 2017.

Half of the stays were reserved by Belgians. The largest contingents of tourists came from the Netherlands (12%), France (7%) and Germany (6%). The United Kingdom accounted for 5%, while significant numbers also came from Spain (2%), United States (2%) and Italy (1%).
