Horrible Hotels: 5 Signs That Will Make You Want To Check Out

It’s everyone’s dream to go on a vacation in the most remote parts of the world. Seeing the beach, rubbing the sand in between the toes, and just feeling the tropical wind brushing against your cheek is an experience people will surely cherish for the rest of their lives.

Another good experience to have while on vacation is the openness of the locals and the excellent food that they have to offer. For example, the culture in some countries like the Philippines and New Zealand are friendly to foreigners. This friendliness is why these countries rank high on the list of the most welcoming countries in the world.

Eventually, almost all tourists cap off their travel and vacation experience with an enjoyable hotel stay. However, not all visitors are fortunate enough to have the complete experience of a perfect getaway. Some are treated with the worse services and get to use poorly-maintained and potentially dangerous amenities of a hotel or resort which they’re currently staying.

The most common causes of such bad experiences inside the hotels are mainly poorly trained staff and the lack of available furniture. With employees, proper training is a quick and sure-fire way of improving a customer’s experience. Usually, with furniture and designing problems, a well-experienced staff can do little or nothing that will win back their disgruntled customers.

Here are some of the worse possible things a tourist can encounter inside his or her hotel room that will ruin a pleasant vacation.

Stains

Arguably, the most disgusting thing a traveler can find on their bed is a stain. Whether it’s fresh or not, a stain remains one of the best reasons to ruin a perfect holiday stay inside a hotel. Even if the staff try to assure people that it may just be a stain from food or beverage, the question remains: “Don’t you try and change your sheets after every guest?”

The thought of another individual’s bodily fluids on a blanket you’re using is enough to make your skin crawl. Always make sure to check the sheets before using.

False Advertising

For hotels to gain more profit,  personnel will sometimes advertise false images of a room and present it as a deluxe or high class for a ridiculous price. In the advertisement, a brochure might picture out a room with king size beds, but in reality, it might only contain an ordinary bed. What’s worse is that those single beds are poorly kept and might even have bed bugs inside.

Noisy Occupants

Part of a fantastic experience while staying at a hotel is getting a good night’s sleep. While other hotel managers and personnel consider this as an obligation towards their paying guests, others, however, do not. It’s the job of these people to provide the best experience for tourists and visitors.

Soundproofing rooms is a good way to prevent noisy tenants from disturbing others. While not all hotels have this luxury, it’s still the hotel personnel’s responsibility to at least reprimand a boisterous client.

Less desirable food

Another breaker for most tourists is that the food is barely edible. Food in hotels should be up to part with what they charge their clients. Some hotel personnel also do cost cutting to the extremes. One of the most disgusting thing that some personnel does is that they reheat leftovers from as old as 2-3 days ago. This behavior is dangerous and could lead to food poisoning.

Smelly

When thinking about hotels, one of the things that people will remember is how clean and pleasant their stay was at that place. If there’s something off about that experience, it leaves a lasting impression on some people.

Unpleasant odors and stenches are one of those undesirable things that most people dread remembering. Bathrooms, bedsheets, pillows all have to be stench-free to make a good impression.

Bonus Tip: Be careful in staying at hotels which boast its antique-look. Most of the time, these hotels have furniture and beds that are just as old as a dinosaur.

Beds are uncomfortable to sleep on, the floor creaks, and doors are hard to lock. Due to its age, some of these items break when used and the hotel staff will personally charge you for any damage done to their properties.

Staying at an old hotel because of it’s uniqueness and antiquity is dangerous because some places inside may need renovations. Floor boards might have nails sticking out, the drain inside bathrooms don’t work, some rooms have lighting problems, etc. A paying customer deserves much better than just a “unique and antique” experience from a hotel.

Takeaway

A vacation is a perfect way to relieve one’s stress from all the work and daily routines. Whether it’s a tropical getaway in the tropics or a winter excursion in the Alps, a vacation experience is never complete without enjoying the perfect stay inside a luxurious hotel.

However, most people are unlucky and face the opposite. From annoying tenants, dirty beds, messy coffee table and hazardous hotel amenities, a wide array of aggravating factors leave a negative and lasting impression on clients.
