1. Majuli– Assam
Apart from being one of India’s most surreal places, Majuli is the world’s largest river island too. It is a beautiful exotic location which is connected via boats to the city of Johrat.
Owing to the high population of tribals in the area, the culture is locally defined and quite unique. It is often referred to as the cultural capital of Assam.
Majauli is yet unexplored and is unknown to most of the tourists in India, though; it has been nominated for UNESCO’s World Heritage site.

2. Sunderbans– West Bengal
Sunderbans is among the most beautiful and surreal wildlife forests existing in India. Located in the southern delta part of West Bengal, it is famous for being the biggest mangrove forest.
Sunderbans founds its mention in the exotic places for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers. The population of crocodiles is also a thing of significance apart from varied species of birds chirping in the forest. Though, the place is infamous for man-eaters.

3. Pangong Lake –Ladakh
The Pangong Lake is surreal in every sense. The beauty of the place is a treat to eyes and a mesmerizing experience for the soul.
It is located 50 km away from Leh, the capital of Ladakh. The most interesting thing about the lake is its color which keeps on changing at different times of the day.
Situated at an altitude of 4350 m, the Pangong Lake is one of the highest lakes in India. It is quite huge and shares its boundary with Tibet from the eastern side.
Pangong gained popularity after being filmed in movies – 3 Idiots and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’.
The best time to visit the lake is from June to September.
4. Dzuko Valley – Nagaland
Dzuko Valley is not less than a paradise on earth. The scenic beauty of the place captivates your mind and soul. It is situated at a height of approx. 1500 m above the sea level.
During the spring and winter season, the valley transforms into a mesmerizing mixture of red and white with rhododendron, lilly and wild flowers in their full bloom.
To reach the place you have to travel just 25 km from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. If you are planning to visit Dzuko valley then March to June are the best months, either go in October-November.
5. Great Rann of Kutch – Gujarat
Rann of Kutch presents you with a surreal sight of white salt desert. Located at the western most district of Gujarat bordering Pakistan, it is famous for the Rann Utsav Festival.
The place comes alive during the desert festival which is organized every year from December to March. It provides a fantastic line-up of cultural activities, folk dances, camping, camel safari, hot air ballooning and many other things.
The desert looks beautiful during the full moon night and one should not miss this sight. Though, avoid visiting Rann of Kutch in summers as the place has a high temperature.
