Thankfully, the US is all set to ban sex robots that encourage paedophilia

Children are young and positive and, ever willing to learn anything taught to them. These are what Jim Morrison called “fragile”, “eggshell minds” that can seep into whatever is consciously or unconsciously taught to them. The environment around them matters and therefore, it is a responsibility of everyone to guide children well. And this stands true for not only their families or extended families but those who are amid children, whether it is an elder or for that matter an unrelated person. These aren’t robots that do not have emotional values and are, therefore, not one-sided minds.

And yet, among the most appalling crimes ever committed against the young children is that of sexual exploitation and molestation. The concept of child sexual exploitation or to put it simply, paedophilia is something that always poses a risk to uproot innocence and cause consternation. Yet, among a serious criminal offence, so few cases of paedophilia are even fought into the end, saving children from the gory horrors of an act that poses the risk to damage one’s psyche for times to come.

In this regard, when news came in that the United States of America is planning to ban sex robots, a serious cause of offence in the country, there was a widespread relief in the general community. Even as there are some who are constantly holding onto their logic against the habit of banning robots, some clever arguments, for the lack of a better word, are being offered in this direction.

Sex robots were primarily introduced in the American society, not as a means to liberate oneself sexually but to put a curtain to unfulfilled sexual desires. Called a masked form of perversion, to a great portion of the audience, the aforementioned are dangerous desires and they directly pose a challenge to the rest of the society.

Lawmakers, it is found, are ready to pass a bill that bans vile sex robots in the United States whose primary purpose is for the users and public to have intercourse with them. Akin to fulfilling one’s desires- let that not be elaborated any further- just like the United States has the sex robots, in other parts of the world, primarily, in Asia, there have been Japanese sex dolls.

Of late, called “horrendous” and perhaps appropriately so by everyone, there’s been a large influx of sex-robots in diverse geographies such as Japan, China and, the United States, where now, there may no longer be any sex robots. The bill, interestingly, that is going to act sacrosanct regarding the disallowance of the robots to continue in the United States is called the CREEPER act. The bill is now to move to the Senate, to be approved, before it goes to the President for final approval before it is passed on as a law.

And in case, you were rightly wondering as to just what is meant by CREEPER, here’s an answer. CREEPER’ is an acronym for ‘Curbing Realistic Exploitative Electronic Pedophilic Robots Act.

That said, for the longest time now, the sex doll industry has been in the eye of the law as also of critical bodies who loathe and rightly so, the exploitation it brings about in the larger society. Sexual perverts and committers of horrific crimes such as paedophilia need to be kept away from the society. They simply cannot be accepted ever. It is believed, such troubled minds get influenced by objects like the sex robots and sex dolls.

Horrific accounts of paedophilia have been recounted for the longest time in the American society. To make people and audiences aware of the horrors, the government in tandem with creative forces such as marketing communication campaigns and advertisers as also Hollywood have made films and public-awareness campaigns to raise the alarm on paedophilia.

But just how much of a difference has been brought about- one wonders? Considered largely to be a resort of the pervert and the closeted psychopaths and often, the rich, sex robots- one may believe- have done more damage than any good. Is the time up now? Can the world see a safer place for our children where they are completely protected from evil factors such as this dreaded habit? Change has to begin with each specific combatting step such as this.
