Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 With 6600mAh Battery, Hexa-Core Processor Goes Official

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 has finally been unveiled after all those rumors and speculation ranging over more than two years. There aren’t many small Android tablets that can take you on a joyride as manufacturers in this market seem no longer interested in producing smaller devices, and their attention is now either focused on large displays or hybrid devices. So, if you are in the market for a handy tablet that runs Android, you clearly aren’t spoiled with choices.

The tablets that are available to us, bear a price-tag that doesn’t suit everyone’s pocket and Xiaomi has taken the advantage of this situation by doing what it does best. ‘All the premium at the most economical price’.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is no exception to this rule as the tablet has been launched at just CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 14,100). Without any official announcement, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 just popped up from nowhere on the company’s Chinese website today and frankly speaking, we can’t really blame Xiaomi as the Mi Pad 2 successor is more of a refresh than a huge upgrade.

When it comes to design, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 comes with a metal back, 7.9-inch (1536 x 2048 pixel) LCD display with 326ppi. Under the hood, 2.1GHz hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, back the device.

On the camera front, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 sports a 13MP rear camera, which with options like LED flash,1080p HD support and f/2.2 aperture. While up front, the device features a 5MP camera which comes with f/2.0 aperture.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 gets a bigger 6600mAh battery with support for 5V/2A fast charging, which is claimed to offer a huge 867 hours of standby time and 12 hours of browsing time. The tablet runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI8 skin on top.

Other features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi display, Wifi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a microUSB port.

What we Miss in Xiaomi Mi Pad 3

  • No Expandable Memory Option
  • Android 7.0 Nougat
  • A better GPU for gaming enthusiasts

Needless to say, despite all these absent features, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is still a great device considering its price tag. The tablet is only available in China in just a single colour variant, Champagne Gold, however, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is expected to launch soon in the global market and if that happens, Indian will be the first country to receive the Mi Pad 2 successor. We also expect a Snapdragon unit in the Indian version as well as an expandable memory option.
