Xiaomi Mi Max 2 With 6GB RAM and Snapdragon 660 SoC To Launch On May 23

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been one of the highly anticipated smartphones in the mid-budget segment, especially when it comes to the sub-Rs 20,000 category and after all the leaks and rumors that have given us the taste of this next big thing from Xiaomi, it might tough Indian shores by the end of this month or early June.

It’s been a year since the launch of Xiaomi Mi Max and somehow the Chinese manufacturer has managed to stay put and hasn’t launch its successor. First, it was expected to be launched alongside the new flagship, Mi 6 but that never happened and now according to recent rumors, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is most certainly going to be launched on 23rd May.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is going to be a big phablet, boasting of a 6.44-inch (1920×1080) HD display that is said to bring a revolution of some sorts with it, due to the price tag it will carry. We are expecting the device to be launched at RMB 1,499 (approximately Rs 14,999) and that coupled with a hardware that can give more premium offering a run for their money, might create a magic that Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to.

The specifications of Xiaomi Mi Max 2 have already been listed on various websites and here is the round-up that makes this handset, one of the best smartphones in the segment.

6.44-inch (1920×1080) HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 4GB/6GB RAM variants, 128GB of internal storage but there has been no word about expandable storage option. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will also feature a 12 MP Sony IMX378 auto-focus rear camera along with a f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and 4K video support, a 5MP front-facing unit for selfies and video calling. The rear unit is the same that is found on Google Pixel and is said to be one of the highlights of this new offering.

Other specifications include 5000mAh battery with quick charge support, USB Type-C port, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, Accelerometer, Barometer, Light sensor, Digital compass, Gyroscope, Pedometer and Proximity sensor.

With an all-metal body weighing 203 grams and measuring just 7.55mm in thickness, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will definitely attract customers who are looking for multimedia consumption but don’t want to shell out on premium tablets that also lack voice calling feature.

However, rumors are also suggesting that the 4GB RAM model might come with Snapdragon 626 processor which is still one of the best middleweight SoCs in the market.

While the 6GB/Snapdragon 660 is expected to be the most premium offering of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 that will cost around 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,000 approx), it’s the 4GB/Snapdragon 626 variant’s price-tag that will lay down the path of success for Xiaomi Mi Max 2 as it is expected to be priced anywhere between 1,499 Yuan (around Rs 15,000) and 1,699 Yuan (around Rs 17,000).
