Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XA1 Ultra and XA1 Plus Receive Permanent Price Cut In India

Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra and Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, the three most popular Sony smartphones in India, have just received a permanent price cut which means that the company is trying very hard to keep up with the competition posed by other players in the industry such as Samsung, Honor and Xiaomi. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which is the Japanese multinational’s flagship smartphone in India, will now retail at Rs 49,990, which is down from the launch price of Rs 59,990.

On the other hand, the mid-range Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra has received a price cut worth Rs 5,000 and will be priced at Rs 22,990, while the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus has received a price cut worth Rs 5,000 coming down from Rs 24,990 to Rs 19,000. The price cut for all the three smartphones will be effective starting from today.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium comes with a 5.5-inch Triluminos HDR display offering 4K (2160×3840 pixels) resolution and is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with Adreno 540 GPU as well as 4GB of RAM. the smartphone offers 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via a microSD slot (up to 256GB). While the device is backed by a 3230mAh battery with fast charging support, the fingerprint scanner is embedded in the home button.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has a 19-megapixel sensor at the rear with Sony’s Motion Eye technology coupled with 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor which provides 5x faster image scanning along with data transfer. All of this means that you can record videos 960 frames per second and there is also the Super slow motion video playback which is four times slower than almost all other smartphones in the market. At the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera with 1/3.06-inch Exmor RS sensor.

The Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, which is a mid-range smartphone, has premium specifications such as a 23-megapixel rear camera, wide-angle 8-megapixel front camera, and Sony ClearAudio+ technology. While the device will be available in Black, White, and Gold color options, it is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor coupled with Mali T-880 MP2 GPU for graphics and 4GB of RAM. It sports a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display.

The rear camera of the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus features a 23-megapixel Exmor RS sensor coupled with hybrid autofocus as well as 24mm wide-angle f/2.0 aperture lens. The front 8-megapixel selfie sensor comes with 23mm f/2.0 aperture lens which is capable of taking low-light pictures at an ISO3200. The handset has 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB). The Xperia XA1 Plus is backed by a 3430mAh battery which comes with Quick Charge 2.0+ support.

Coming to the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra, it sports a 6-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD display, and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor (quad-core 2.3GHz + quad-core 1.6GHz) coupled with Mali T880 MP2 900MHz GPU for graphics and 4GB RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage options, which can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB).

The biggest highlight of the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is its cameras. At the rear, the smartphone sports a 23-megapixel Exmor RS sensor with hybrid autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, 24mm wide-angle lens, 5x zoom, and HDR mode. The Xperia XA1 Ultra comes with a 16-megapixel front camera with Exmor RS sensor, front flash, 23mm wide-angle lens, autofocus f/2.0 aperture and OIS. While the whole package is backed by a 2700mAh battery, the device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with company’s own custom skin on top. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, LTE Cat6/4, UMTS HSPA+ (3G) and GSM GPRS/EDGE (2G).

Everything said and done, the price cut for Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra and Sony Xperia XA1 Plus hints the arrival of their successors in the Indian market. On the other hand, Sony has already showcased the Xperia XZ2 Premium at the recently concluded MWC 2018 event and the device is expected to be launched in India by the end of May.
