Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has been launched by the Chinese maker as the world’s first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. While we have seen companies like Samsung and OnePlus coming up with the first smartphone running on Qualcomm’s flagship processor, Lenovo has taken the lead this time around, with the next year still being a couple of weeks ahead. Moreover, Lenovo has also launched a lighter version of the device dubbed as the Lenovo Z5s, which is the company’s first smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 701 processor.
With the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, Lenovo has also taken a big leap when it comes to offering flagship as well as high-end features in its smartphones. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT seems to be a beast of a smartphone since it is also available with up to 12GB of RAM while it has also become Lenovo’s first smartphone to use slider mechanism for the cameras in order to achieve a full display front, as well. The 12GB RAM version of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has been claimed to support 50 apps running in the background.
The slider at the front of Lenovo Z5 Pro GT also houses the infrared (IR) based face unlock for biometrics and earpiece while the rear dual camera module is present at the back panel of the smartphone. Another highlight of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is the in-display fingerprint scanner and all in all, the Lenovo seems to have integrated all the major features introduced this year into one smartphone to end the year with a bang.
Interestingly, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC is backed by the Snapdragon X50 modem, which means that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT can support 5G connectivity, as well. However, this version of the smartphone doesn’t support 5G connectivity and we expect that Lenovo will soon launch a 5G version of its new flagship at the beginning of next year.
Also, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT features a Carbon Back with carbon fiber finish covered with a glass featuring Red and Black accents on all the sides similar to what we see in a sports car. It should also be noted that Lenovo has been almost a non-existent player in the premium flagship segment but with the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, the smartphone maker has indeed made a dent, although a late one.
