Flipkart Billion Capture+ Review: The Best Debut So Far In The Smartphone World

Flipkart, the Indian e-commerce giant has forayed into another space and after launching a series of budgeted tablets, this time the company has taken a leap to compete in the smartphone business with the Flipkart Billion Capture+.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you might know the kind of numbers in which Flipkart sell smartphones online and for a company that knows what kind of package that almost guarantees success, finding the perfect recipe was not that big of a task. And rightly so, Flipkart Billion Capture+ has turned out to be a well-packaged smartphone, at least on the spec sheet.

That said, it’s also true that despite the goodwill that the Indian e-commerce giant enjoys, Flipkart Billion Capture+ is still a debutant and potential buyers will have some doubts about its performance in real life. And to cater to this challenge, does Flipkart Billion Capture+ has what it takes to be the next big thing in the already crowded mid-budget segment and competitors like Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K8 Note and Moto G5S Plus? Let’s see.

What we like about Flipkart Billion Capture+

  • One thing that we always focus on is the design theme of every debutant in the mid-budget segment and to sum it up for Billion Capture+, it’s a device with a sleek design and perfectly curved edges which provides easy operations with one hand.
  • While this is not a bezel-less handset like the LG Q6, at this price point it was more than expected. But what will really leave the user’s impressed, is the fact that the 5.5-inch display offers class-leading brightness levels as well as great viewing angles.
  • Just like the Xiaomi Mi A1 and the whole budgeted Nokia series, Flipkart’s Capture+ also comes with stock Android for the purest experience of the operating system.
  • Another feature that puts this smartphone in direct competition to Xiaomi’s Mi A1 along with the Moto G5S is the dual-rear camera setup at the rear. Surprisingly, the 13MP+13MP setup has already set up a benchmark as no other competitor offers such numbers on the sheet.
  • As for real life results, we expect both the front and rear cameras to offer great color production, enough details, and minimal grains.
  • The hardware package consisting of SD 625, 3GB/4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU is the best we have seen at this price point and for heavy gamers as well as the ones who like to multitask with heavy applications, Flipkart Billion Capture+ offers enough power under-the-hood.
  • All users will get unlimited cloud storage.
  • The combo of 3500mAh battery and quick charge support endows confidence as the battery itself can offer 2 days worth of juice on moderate usage.

What we didn’t like about Flipkart Billion Capture+

  • Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is missed.
  • A Snapdragon 650 Processor could have made the deal even better.
  • While the world is trying to shift towards Quick Charge 5.0 from 3.0, the device still comes with an age-old fast charging support.

Conclusion

Despite the Flipkart Billion Capture+ ticking almost all the right boxes, it’s the newcomer’s image and the failure in the tablet business that could hamper its initial success. However, if you want to take a leap of faith just now, it’s a risk worth taking.
