Lenovo K6 Power Takes on the Redmi 3S Prime Challenge

Lenovo has finally launched its K5 successor and this time the company has left no stones unturned to dethrone Redmi 3S Prime from the numero uno position. The name of the smartphone is K6… K6 power and just like the bond movies, the word ‘power’ emphasis on everything that Lenovo’s new entrant is capable of.

K6 Power is launched at a price of Rs 9,999 and this smartphone is not just about specifications rather, the user experience is the focal point of its launch.

Lenovo K6 Power boasts a 5 inch full HD display with a uni body design and all that metal will surely give you the feeling of a premium phone. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3 Gigabytes of RAM will make sure that your gaming experience does not tamper with. Further, the K6 Power offers a 4,000 mAh battery which is more than enough to survive a full day and that too with regressive usage.

The smartphone is also powered by the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.

The overview may have triggered an anticipation inside you of knowing more about Lenovo K6 Power and we are more than happy to satisfy you with a full detailed review, comparing it with Redmi 3S Prime simultaneously.

Display and Design
Lenovo K6 Power and Redmi 3S Prime are annoyingly similar to each other in this department with the fingerprint scanner being at the back side, just below the camera. Both the phones further have a strong metal body with a 5-inch screen. The one thing that Lenovo K6 boasts are the dual speakers that support Dolby atmos, at the back and Redmi 3s Prime has nothing to answer this.

Further, the Theatre Max experience that was launched with Lenovo K5 continued to impress us and this shows that Lenovo has finally thought about launching a complete product.

Both the smartphones are available in gold, silver and dark grey colour.

Redmi 3S Prime: 8/10
Lenovo K6 Power: 8.5/10

We wanted to place K6 Power 9/10 but somehow we felt like rather than designing something new, Lenovo went with a tried and tested design.

Processor, Memory and Battery
Thank God!! Lenovo has finally scrapped its MediaTek processor and launched K6 Power with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor which now stands at par with the Redmi 3S Prime’s processor. The processor is further clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 505 GPU.

Both the smartphones are capable of supporting heavy games like Asphalt 8 and Call of Duty without hampering the user experience. Screen temperature after regular gaming was also under 38-degree celsius.

Lenovo K6 Power offers 3GB of RAM with an internal storage of 32GB, expandable up to 128GB. However, just like Redmi 3S Prime, you can either use an additional SIM or a microSD Card.

Both the smartphones are 4G VoLTE enabled and there is only one minor thing that differentiates the two from each other i.e. the battery. Redmi 3S Prime boasts a 4100 mAh battery while the Lenovo K6 Power offers a 4000 mAh battery.

However, Lenovo K6 Power has a reverse charging feature which is quite innovative.

Redmi 3S Prime: 8/10
Lenovo K6 Power: 9/10

Camera
The one thing that Redmi 3s Prime was not good at was its camera capabilities and Lenovo has taken the lead here as its 13MP Rear and 8MP Front camera are way better on all fronts.

Lenovo K6 Power’s camera comes with features like PDAF, Manual Pro Mode, Slow Motion and Time-lapse which will make the user experience more proficient than Redmi 3S Prime.

The 8MP Front camera with wide lens technology will not let you down during those selfie moments and you can further enhance the pictures with various beautification modes.

Redmi 3S Prime: 7/10
Lenovo K6 Power: 8.5/10

Other features
Lenovo K6 Power gives its users the option to use two Facebook and Whatsapp accounts and no other budgeted smartphone has been able to challenge Lenovo in this area.

The Theatre Max technology is another feature that is exclusively available on Lenovo smartphones and all those media lovers will definitely go for this device.

Conclusion
For those who want a smartphone for Media use such as songs, videos and even heavy gaming sometimes, Lenovo K6 Power is the best option. Nevertheless, for those who do not like to experiment with new things and want a tried and tested devices, Redmi 3S Prime will remain their first preference.

Since its launch in December 2014, Redmi has established itself in the Indian market and the company is known for triggering the ‘More for less money’ concept in India. Many smartphone manufacturers came and tried to defeat Redmi in the budgeted segment but no one has been able to dethrone the Chinese Manufacturer from the numero uno position.

However, Lenovo’s move to launch K6 Power in the same price bracket with a difference of Rs 1000, will definitely prove to be the biggest threat for Redmi 3S Prime.
