Is iPhone 8 Digging the Grave for iPhone 7?

Apple recently launched iPhone 7 in September and the consumer cycle has been triggered again. The cycle goes like this, First, Apple launches a new smartphone, millions of people buy it without second thoughts. Then, people flood the Internet with new complaints of their recently acquired iPhone. Debates will be done and at the end of it, it would have been six months since the launch. By then, rumors of the successor will emerge and the countdown for the next update will start and the people will start the waiting game for the next iPhone.

This has been the scenario since Apple adopted the ‘New Phone Every Year’ policy and buyers have adapted themselves to wait for the next ‘Style Statement’.

However, in the case of iPhone 7, the process took only 3 months and the story goes like this.

Apple will mark the 10th anniversary of iPhone, next year and rumors of an all and all newly designed iPhone 8 are doing the rounds on social media. Considering the ‘not so good’ performance of iPhone 7, Apple may launch an image booster next year. Apple has a tendency to produce some of the best products in these conditions and the ones who haven’t bought an iPhone formerly, have scrapped their plans and are waiting for iPhone 8.

Major Troubles with iPhone 7

It’s still not easy to get our hands on an iPhone 7 because of the long waiting periods spanning up to Christmas, however, people are also finding it difficult to getting used to a phone without a ‘headphone jack’ and click less home button.

Rumors about iPhone 8

Glass Bodied ‘Water Resistant’ Phone

Apple got the patent rights for an ‘all-glass phone’ on 6 September 2016, a day before iPhone 7’s launch. John Gruber, an Apple insider, once said that, if the patent rights were acquired earlier, iPhone 7 would have been a glass bodied phone, making it stand up in the premium smartphone segment.

It is rumored that Apple Inc. may implement the idea while launching iPhone 8 rather than the previously used aluminum body, making it a water resistant smartphone.

Edge-to-Edge Display

Scrapping its bezel design that has been a ‘consistent’ since the first iPhone, iPhone 8 will feature an edge to edge display that will further feature a ‘built in screen camera’, making it a button-less phone. The fingerprint scanner is also rumored to feature on the screen and the one thing that worries us is, if the home button, camera and speakers are stowed in the screen, it may become a dummy with a little fall.

However, if the glass body design is implemented, there will be no reason to worry about.

10 NM A11 Chip
iPhones are considered one of the fastest phones available in the market and Apple has a tendency to set a new benchmark with every iPhone launch. iPhone 6 featured an A8 processor which impressed us with its mouth watering speed. Living up to the expectations, iPhone 7 was launched with an A10 Fusion Chip, making it an another performance benchmark.

Apple wants to launch a missile this time and once, 10 nanometer A11 Chips are introduced in the lineup, no other smartphone, within the same price bracket, can even think about competing with iPhones for a couple of years.

Wireless Charging

You must be thinking that this is not a new feature as other phones like Samsung Galaxy S6 already boast this feature.
‘Apple starts from where we end’
We are talking about charging through the air. It doesn’t matter that this seems next to impossible and if Apple is successful to infuse this feature in iPhone 8, premium smartphone buyers will go for it, just because of this feature.

What would be better than charging your phone without worrying about a port?

If all these rumors turn out to be true and are injected in one smartphone, Man!! Nobody can stop Apple from being an ‘Unconquered King’ of the industry.

However, all these rumors have made it difficult for iPhone 7, to live through its expected lifespan and if we talk the other way round, we think that Apple wants us to forget about the ‘7’ by shifting our focus on iPhone 8, and if that is true, Apple may have realised that iPhone 7 could be the least applauded smartphone ever produced by the company.
