WhatsApp has become the most popular instant messaging platform in the world and the achievement hasn’t come easy for the folks at WhatsApp. The Facebook-owned platform has introduced a host of new features in the last couple of years such as the Status, UPI-based payments, voice and video calling and more.
While all these features have helped WhatsApp evolved over the years, it should be known that the basic aim of this app was to revolutionize the way in which people stay in touch through digital communications. It is a known fact that WhatsApp started as a basic messaging platform and while all of us has been talking and reading about the new features that WhatsApp has introduced over the years, there are some who are unaware of some of the basic operations in WhatsApp app.

Are you one of those who still thinks that the WhatsApp font default settings can’t be changed? Well, here is a revelation for you. Not only you can change the font size for WhatsApp chats but you can also use options such as ‘Italic’ or ‘Bold’ fonts.
Changing the font size
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp app on your smartphone
Step 2: Navigate to WhatsApp settings
Step 3: Now scroll down to the ‘Chats’ option and tap on it
Step 4: Tap on ‘Font Size’ and you will see three options, Small, Medium and Large
Step 5: While the WhatsApp default settings come with Medium font size, you can change it according to your preference.
Italic and Bold fonts on WhatsApp Chats
There is no option to permanently choose Italic or Bold fonts as your default settings nor can you do it selecting the text. However, if you want to change the font of a particular word or sentence to italic, you can do so by adding ‘_’ at both sides of the text. For example, _word_ or _how are you_.
On the other hand, if you want to send bold text, you will have to add * on both sides of the word or the sentence. For example *word* or *how are you*. Moreover, there is also a way to ‘Strikethrough’ the text and you can do so by adding the ~ sign at both sides of the text.
This is how you can change WhatsApp fonts and use italic as well as bold fonts in WhatsApp chats. Do you want to know more about similar WhatsApp tricks? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
