Facebook is all set to launch its Messenger app with a data saver mode which will allow the users to save data while using cellular data. The data saving mode is not available on the mainstream app but, if someone wants to use the function then they can download the beta version from Google Play Store.
Facebook has already launched the Facebook Messenger with a ‘lite’ version which allows the users to operate the app in low network conditions. Now the company is testing its data saver mode that allows the users to select the content that hey want to download. Till now, the app automatically downloads all the content, irrespective of its size and this consumes a great amount of data.
The app will still download all the content in WiFi mode but will provide the option of data saving mode while using cellular data. The move to launch the data saver mode is nothing to be surprised of as India is the second largest user of the app and still suffers from network connectivity issues.
The company also issued a screenshot showing the data saving mode in the beta version of the app.
Google has also been focusing on data saving options and launched multiple apps like Youtube Go, Chrome and Google maps with data saving options. Now Facebook is following Google’s tracks and is planning to launch this data saver option to attract more users in markets like India and South Africa.

Facebook recently announced a ‘secret conversation’ option which will allow users to start an encrypted conversation with their friends. The option provides the users to select particular friends and their conversation will be shown only on one device. For example: if you start a secret conversation with your friend on your desktop than the same can not be seen on your phone.
The company is also testing a new upgrade called ‘What friends are talking about’ which will help the users to stay up to date by seeing all the previous posts from their friends.
