Virat Kohli And A.B. de Villiers once again worked as lucky mascots for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they led the team to take a glorious win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday in an Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Eden Gardens.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to field first. KKR lost their opening batsman Robin Uthappa on the second ball of the third over but incoming batsman Manish Pandey along with the Skipper Gautam Gambhir helped Kolkata get to a fighting total.
Gambhir and Pandey smashed twin fifties and the duo played a positive innings for Kolkata. Gambhir smashed 51 runs off 34 balls while Pandey struck 50 runs off 35 balls. By the end of the powerplay, the duo led Kolkata to 51/1.

Things were going well till Gautam Gambhir got run out in the 11th over of the game. Yusuf Pathan came to bat with Pandey but the duo could not get to a better partnership as Pandey was dismissed by Aravind in the 14th over of the game. Runs were drying down and in the next over Pathan was also stumped out.
Andre Russell’s quick fire helped Kolkata to get back in the game as he smashed 39 runs off 19 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was supporting Russell on the other end but was dismissed early in the 15th over when he was playing at 5.
Shakib Al Hasan and Russell enthralled the stadium with their power hitting. They managed to post a decent total for Kolkata as the duo hit 38 runs in the last three overs. Shakib scored 18 runs off 11 balls and by the end of the innings Kolkata posted a challenging total of 183 runs with the loss of 5 wickets.
Chasing The Total of 183, Bangalore got off to a flying start as their opening batsman Gayle, who had not performed well yet was smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. Virat and Gayle were on fire and the duo led the team to 63 runs for no loss after six overs. Gayle smashed 49 runs off 31 balls but he was dismissed on a Narine’s delivery in the 8th over of the game.
Though Gayle was dismissed but Banglore had incoming batsmen AB de Villiers and the duo of Virat and AB de Villiers once again cruised RCB to a spectacular win.
As the ground was howling Kohli, Kohli, the batsman did not disappoint his fans and played an amazing unbeaten knock of 75 runs off 51 balls. On the other hand, AB de Villiers smashed 59 runs off 31 balls. The duo kept hitting fours and sixes at regular intervals.
Kohli and De Villiers both struck 5 boundaries and 3 big sixes in their innings. The duo made an amazing partnership of 115 runs for Bangalore and they led their team to win over Kolkata with 8 balls to spare.
This win brought Bangalore a new life in the competition with 12 points.
