Has Sebastian Vettel Rejected McLaren Offer?

Has Sebastian Vettel already rejected the McLaren offer? Reports at this point in time suggest (do not confirm) that an offer was made to the current Ferrari driver for a prospective seat for the 2021 season. But that it’s been turned down by the famous German driver. If anyone thought that the biggest question hovering in the F1 galaxy was just this- when might live action begin finally, then guess what? That’s not the only query out there.

The other big question is where might Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel go next, with it being confirmed that he’s no longer going to be a part of the Scuderia stable at the conclusion of the 2020 season.

Thing is after it was confirmed that Vettel and Ferrari will part ways at the end of 2020, the driver would go to McLaren. But it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen anytime soon.

Many publications have been constantly keeping a tab on the Sebastian Vettel reports but only a few seem to be knowing the trending buck. Here’s what Essentially Sports had to share on the Vettel matter:

With Vettel announcing his Ferrari exit, many are expecting Carlos Sainz to replace the German driver at the Italian team. Allegedly, Sainz is a frontrunner for the vacant seat, and judging by recent rumors, he may have signed with Ferrari already. Of course, the Scuderia hasn’t officially announced him yet but that could change very soon.

Sainz leaving McLaren opens up a seat at the Woking outfit for next season. As a result, many predicted a potential swap between Vettel and Sainz but it appears that won’t be happening.

That being said, what’s clear is that Sebastian Vettel is going to be out of drive at the end of the 2020 season, unless, of course, he makes a clear decision on his next plan.

But where that stands, then here’s what makes the entire math complicated:

1. It’s been rumored that current McLaren driver Carlos Sainz Jr. is due to find a place at the Maranello-based famous racing stable. This means that in 2021, McLaren will have a vacancy as their current driver will move to the red racing overalls.

2. Similarly, what’s also being said is that Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo will move to McLaren in 2021, which means there will be a vacancy at the French constructor.

3. At the same time, there has been a lot of hype surrounding the news that former two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who moved to Le Mans and also competed at the 24 Hours of Daytona will get back into Formula 1.

How this might pan out is that Alonso will either switch to Renault or McLaren, in which case, there’ll still be a seat left to fill.

But if at all it’s true that Sebastian Vettel has declined the McLaren offer and that Alonso gets to drive at Renault, if at all, does that mean, the ‘end of the road’ for the noted German driver?

What if Ricciardo doesn’t move out of Renault while Sainz does and gets a seat at Ferrari, which means Alonso gets a place at McLaren, his previous team (also the last in F1). Would a combination of all of that that send a prominent multiple world champion on his way out?

What can be grimmer, one wonders if that’s to come true?
