Having left behind the woeful troubles of 2020, a season where the car was rather insipid to anyone’s liking, let alone the frustrations it would have caused the Tifosi, Ferrari are a brand new outfit of sorts in 2021, a new season where the likes of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. are the faces leading the charge of the Maranello-based outfit.
What was a sad and vapid season last year has already birthed a new transformation of sorts in the 2021 World championship for Ferrari, the sport’s most loved and popular outfit. And just what’s the evidence of a bright turnaround even as the SF 70 H is way off menacing pace?
A podium each for Leclerc and Sainz, the latter getting it recently at the 2021 British Grand Prix, a controversy-fuelled contest at Silverstone and the latter, bagging one incredible race finish at the famous Principality of Monaco.

At present, Ferrari are on fourth slot on the 2021 Constructor Standings with 148 points, fifteen adrift of McLaren, whom they are closely fighting in what could be called a keenly-contested fight for the third spot in the world championship.
Though, that being said, quite like the Ferrari fans, the critics too exist, those ever keen to call the famous scarlet red cars names, one which despite showing a massively impressive form and much better aerodynamic package this season, is being subjected to critical appraisals.
But that’s all fine, Ferrari know the way to improve is to take regular strides forward toward progress. It’s a fact that currently, they are among the top midfielders in Formula 1 but the way Sainz and Leclerc have been pushing, it appears that day is not far where the stallion of Grand Prix racing will, once again, become the force to reckon with: a true prancing horse!
That being said, Ferrari recently offered some views about the next season, speaking specifically of the chances of the midfielders in a season where there’ll be new rules and new regulations, all aimed at making the sport more competitive than it already is.
And interestingly so, Ferrari are of the view that one can expect huge surprises from the midfield teams in 2022. So what are the exact details about this and why does the Maranello-based outfit feeling so?
In the words of Laurent Mekies, the following information came to light:
“As opposed to saying ‘whoa, it’s changing a, b, c, d, e, f, I think it soon became clear that it was a fresh piece of paper. That’s how I think we’ll look at it as a team and as a sport. There have been many changes of regulations, heavy changes of regulations in the past, maybe not of that magnitude. But we know there is a true potential to changing the terms of the grid order. I don’t think it will [all] be on the on tyre performance but I think it will be in the combination of the car concepts, the new regulations, the aero regulations, how they interact with the tyres and how do we make everything work like that.”
The Italian would further add, “I think you we will see surprises. We have the potential to see surprises also from midfield teams, and it’s a risk and opportunity for everybody.”
A lot of what Mr. Mekies said was in connection to the new aero package that the teams would be contesting with. New Aero regs would offer a completely different way for cars compete at the highest level.”
That being said, let us hope that Ferrari’s predictions come true and that the sport can see massive competition than what’s currently on offer, even as the likes of Alpine, Aston Martin and Alpha Tauri have interesting midfield battles going on in 2021, which is a refreshing sight for one and all!
