BCCI just confirmed an IPL style women’s exclusive T20 match just before ongoing IPL playoffs

For the longest time now, there’s been a lot of talk about whether the BCCI would incorporate an IPL- style Women’s only tournament? But then, much of the talks regarding the development were primarily considered lose talk. Given that to this date, there weren’t any considerable talks or records to suggest that the BCCI may actually be considering a women’s specific IPL- there was a contained sense of enthusiasm.

Now, it is believed that we might be closing on a stage where a women’s exclusive IPL may actually be a reality. And on this occasion, there’s more proof than ever. For the first time since the birth of the rumours circulating along the country regarding a Women’s IPL, have we heard something unprecedented of this sort.

It is believed that right before the start of the men’s IPL playoffs, the BCCI is all set to organize a women’s T20 encounter. Now in the first instance, this might fuel the hope of the believers who’ve not only rallied behind the idea of women’s cricket but have in fact, supported the concept of having a women’s only IPL. At the outset, it may give an impression that perhaps there may be still some time left before the concept of organising a women’s exclusive IPL can be figured out completely.

Whatever might happen, a lot of it currently being part of conjecture here’s something definite to write home about.

The IPL governing council has sanctioned the exclusive women’s only IPL contest. This will take right before the start of the keenly awaited men’s playoff stage, lest it be forgotten that the hugely exciting current edition of the 20-20 contest is approaching its second, conclusive stage. In the recent past, there have been a number of reports that state the BCCI mulling over the prospect of replicating the highly successful male IPL format for the women players.

For starters, ever since the successful completion of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017- women’s game has been on a definite rise, especially in the most important land of T20 cricket currently- India. Secondly the prospect of bringing some of the most dashing names in the forthcoming IPL- provided, if it goes through- is too good to be ignored or simply brushed aside. Given that there are some ace cricketers that are exerting their presence by sheer weight of numbers and talent in the international stage, it’s not that hard to know that why a women’s IPL would bring such a tremendous difference actually.

When you have talents like Australia’s Ellyse Perry, Nicole Bolton, Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor and Hayley Mathews along with  South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp, Laura Wolvaardt, Dane Van Niekerk, Shabnam Ismail and India’s very own Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Mitali Raj and the rising names like Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma- who wouldn’t want the exciting names to battle it out in the sphere of T20 dominance? The question now is that when will the women’s IPL be actually constituted. It is believed, it will do a world of good for promoting the women’s game further.
