India lost the first ODI match of the one-day series to the hosting team Australia by 5 wickets, but the extraordinary innings by Rohit Sharma earned India a fair share of praises and applauds. Rohit’s ODI knock of 171 runs made it clear that Indian team will be playing wearing their heart on sleeves. The former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman stated that it is the best ODI knock that he has ever seen by an Indian batsman in Australia.
Rohit Sharma as an opening batsman carried his bat through to score unbeaten 171. Studded with 13 fours and 7 sixes, Rohit was well supported by Indian vice-captain Virat Kohli who scored an excellent knock of 91 runs. Rohit stayed till the end and helped team India to reach a good score of 309 runs and his calm and composed batting didn’t allow the Australian bowlers to settle down between the game.
Rohit Sharma’s chanceless knock made him the fastest Indian batsman to score 1000 ODI runs against Australia. Although India lost first ODI match but the good total of 309 runs was a tough target to chase for Australia.
