In recent history, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, has played some of the most resounding innings having huge magnitude towards India getting those green ticks of victories and not only had he took the team over the finishing line, he had made sure of balancing his personal performance as well as his contributions towards the game.
Recently, during the India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test, Virat Kohli added another golden feather to his cap after becoming the only second captain to have scored five double tons in the Test format, after West Indies legend Brian Lara, and what is even more astonishing is the fact that all his 200’s have come in the last two years, reflecting towards the consistency he is renowned for in the cricket fraternity.
For all that he has done for Indian cricket, Virat Kohli was honored with the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2017 Award in the National Capital, and when on stage, he was questioned by none other than the 2017 Miss World Manushi Chhillar, on how he wants to inspire other while being an idol for many?
For the unknown, Virat Kohli has been very vocal in the media, be it his jibe at BCCI for a hectic schedule or his approach towards the team, and considering he is a formidable power which is adorned by many, his words can’t be ignored.
But at the CNN-News18 event, what he said on inspiring others can only be termed as the best way to motivate yourself and never let go of what you believe in.
What should you learn from this? Well, to sum it up, never question yourself because that when you go downhill, believe in what you do and do not care what others think of you unless you are true to yourself.
Virat Kohli has been an epitome of fitness and on many occasions, we have seen his teammates struggling to even match what the skipper wants from them on the field but he believes in leading by example and man hasn’t he done the same?
In his nine-year-long career, Virat Kohli has cemented his name among the greatest of game and from becoming the fastest to score 9000 ODI runs to being the second in the list of centuries, from holding the record of fastest ODI ton by an Indian to being the only batsman to score double hundreds in four consecutive Test series, Virat Kohli has done it all.
Moreover, the Indian skipper needs only 25 more runs to reach the 5000-run milestone in Test cricket and we are sure of witnessing the same when the third India vs Sri Lanka Test gets underway from 2nd December in Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla.
But that’s not all, Virat Kohli’s captaincy record also seem to have no end and if India wins the final Test next week, the Indian skipper will equal Ricky Ponting’s record for most consecutive series wins.
On the other hand, the year 2017 has been one of the best years for Virat Kohli as he became the 8th batsman in International cricket to score 50 centuries across all formats. While he is also the only active batsman to boast an average of 50+ in all three formats, we are yet to see him scoring a hundred in the T20 format, which we are expecting soon enough.
