Smriti Mandhana Is Looking Forward To Playing In Women’s T20 Challenge!

Batting sensation of the women’s cricket team of India, Smriti Mandhana is positive and excited about the upcoming Women’s T20 challenge, a series that is primed to up the ante of women’s cricket in a country where glowing talents are found in both- urban centres and the last mile of a town.

The left-hander batter, who already running close to completing 4,000 international runs, including 2,000 in the limited-overs format was part of the exhibition one-off women’s IPL contest and a key series that followed the one-off Mumbai-staged game, in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

She was, as a matter of fact, also the captain of the Trailblazers side, whose opposite number was her India captain, batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur.

But ahead of the announcement that the important fixtures pertaining to the rise of women’s cricket- the Women’s Challenge, scheduled to be held later this year during November (1 to 10), the vice-captain of the Indian team offered some exciting thoughts about the importance of the series and her own participation in it.

In fact, it’s not hard to see Smriti Mandhana’s excitement regarding the said event, so much so that she took to social media to express her thoughts, where on platforms such as Twitter, the batter’s voice is one that resonates with hundreds of thousands of cricket devotees from around the world.

We must remember, however, that the Women’s T20 Challenge shall not be taking place in India, as one may have expected. It will, on the contrary, be staged in the UAE, which is also hosting the most famous T20 franchise-based tournament, the ever-famous Indian Premier League, the announcement of which brought back the lost smiles on countless faces, it can be said!

Meanwhile, with regards to the upcoming Women’s T20 challenge- here is what famous publication Business World had to say:

On Sunday, the BCCI had confirmed that Women’s T20 Challenge will take place in the UAE and will comprise of three teams with four matches to be played during the IPL Playoff week.

Many Indian stars such as Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Poonam Yadav, and Veda Krishnamurthy have welcome the move of going ahead with the Women’s T20 Challenge.

This tournament will provide the women’s team to have some match practice ahead of the 50-over World Cup slated to be played in New Zealand next year.

That being told, the last that one saw the Indian women’s cricket team as part of live proceedings dates back to February-March, earlier this year, where they were not just participants but the finalists of the prestigious Women’s T20 World Cup, 2020.

Although, India played as well as reaching the finals, a stage that came not before they upstaged biggies like the White Ferns, Australia would succeed in curtailing their surge in the finals, the occasion leading Meg Lanning-side to yet another fascinating title triumph.

Furthermore, one honestly can’t wait to see the women sporting the blues bolt away to some impressive performances in the upcoming UAE-based fixtures.
