IPL 2017 Match 17 RCB vs RPS: Royal Challengers Humiliated In Their Own Backyard

IPL 2017 Match 17 RCB vs RPS: Virat Kohli’s men collapsed at 134 while chasing just 161 runs in their own backyard.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rising Pune Supergiants was not a match between Steven Smith and Virat Kohli, rather it was a clash between a former and current Indian skipper, for the fans.

Just a couple of days before, #DhoniDropped was trending on social media as haters believed that the former Indian captain’s journey as the face of the sport in the nation has come to end and T20 is not a format for him anymore. They further went on saying that MS Dhoni should not be selected for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2017 due to inconsistency and deteriorating performance.

However, after going for cheap in the first three innings of IPL 2017, MS Dhoni is back from the grave and we would like to appreciate the haters who made it possible. You guys questioned his talent and because of that, we got to witness the best for the best finisher, once again.

IPL 2017 RCB vs RPS match, was a deja vu for several Dhoni fans as they got to witness another masterstroke from his blade which took us back to ICC World Cup 2011 final, however, this time, it was even better than the previous one.

Watch That Massive Six Here:

The bowler was immediately given a water bottle to get his mind straight after that unbelievable six, which turned the crowd from chanting RCB, RCB, RCB to Dhoni. Dhoni, Dhoni.

During his 28 of 25 balls, MS Dhoni strikes three boundaries and this huge six which was an apt answer to all his haters and critics out there.

Moreover, he was the hand behind Ab de Villiers stumping for which the wicketkeeper took just 0.51 seconds. Imran Tahir, the bowler, knew what MS Dhoni has done and he ran towards him rather than enjoying the wicket. It’s right to say, if stumping is a religion then Dhoni is the God.

As for the match, Ajinkya Rahane (30), Rahul Tripathi (31), Steven Smith (27) and MS Dhoni (28) and a good start to RPS batting and Manoj Tiwary’s 27 off 11 balls was enough to get a defendable total. While answering, RCB kneeled down in front of Jaydev Unadkat (4-25-2) Shardul Thakur (4-35-3) and Ben Stokes (4-18-3), managing just 134 runs at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

P.S MS Dhoni was and still is the best wicket-keeping batsman India has ever witnessed and while Test Cricket may not be his best format, when it comes to limited overs cricket, it’s hard to ignore him.
