IPL 2017, DD vs RCB: Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle Shine But In A Dead Rubber

IPL 2017 DD vs RCB: Virat Kohli and men end the season with a 10-runs victory.

IPL 2017 has entered the final stages and we have our top four teams that will go head-to-head for the ultimate trophy. The first qualifier will be played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants before the eliminator between Kolkata Knight Riders and the defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, there also happened one of the most anticipated clashes of IPL 2017 which being a dead rubber, attracted more viewers than expected. Feroz Shah Kotla, the ever so lit venue, hosted the last league game of IPL 2017 between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore where the hosts were seeking a home ground victory to end their campaign and RCB entered to keep what remained of their respect.

Royal Challengers opted to bat first and since it is the game of the unexpected Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle made the most of this opportunity and took their team back to winnings ways despite it being their last act of the season.

Chris Gayle was not at his typical best but tried to find his mojo back during his knock of 48 runs off 38 balls that included 3 boundaries and 3 huge sixes.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, finally proved his mettle with the bat by knocking down 58 runs off just 45 balls that also included 3 boundaries and 3 sixes, the following one being the best.

The shot that you are going to see was not just the best from the match but was even one of the most classic drives we have ever seen.

During their partnership of 66 runs, there was also a moment that left everybody from commentators to the players themselves, having a good laugh on it.

Both Gayle and Kohli’s knock helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to register a total of 161 runs which Delhi Daredevils, despite having a steady start, failed to achieve. Karun Nair (26), Shreyas Iyer (32) and Rishabh Pant (45) helped Delhi to come very close to the target but the dominance of Harshal Patel (4-43-3) and Travis Head (3-30-2) led to a destruction of RCB’s middle as well as lower order.

It was the same inconsistency that has hurt Delhi Daredevils throughout the tournament, Zaheer Khan being vocal about it on several occasion. However, they still managed to end their IPL 2017 campaign at the 6th position while RCB still had to bid adieu, being the least performing team this year.
