India vs England 3rd T20I, Stats: A Formidable Start of Virat Kohli’s Era

India vs England 3rd T20I was the final game of the last leg of England tour and unfortunately for the visitors, it was scheduled at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The venue has a reputation for sixes, ‘Big sixes’. Even mishits sail over the rope more than often and no other venue in the World sees more heart wrenching Maximums than M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bowlers tend to bow down here but the India vs England 3rd T20I, saw the hosts ticking all the right boxes and gave the visitors one of the most humiliating defeat ever.

Backed by fifties from Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh’s 27 off 10, India posts a humongous total of 202 runs, with Indian batsmen treating sixes as they were nothing. They showed no mercy to the England’s bowlers and neither to the ball itself. Coming out of the crease seemed their traditional style and the maximums were so huge and powerful that even a teenage fan got hurt and was rushed for treatment. However, by the time he was treated and discharged, his favourite team gave him another memorable moment by clinching the T20I series against England.

The target already seemed impossible and a havoc created by Yuzvendra Chahal must have sent chills down the spine of England team. What was so great about it? Well, this was the first time any Indian bowlers clinched 6 wickets, yes six freaking wickets in a T20I ever.

Jasprit Bumrah and Amit Mishra did the remaining task, taking out the whole England’s batting lineup at just 127 runs in 16.1 overs and taking their team to a 75 runs victory.

From Suresh Raina’s form with the bat and on the field, to the seniors leading the team, Virat Kohli led Indian team has everything except a suitable opening pair and their dominance can be felt with the following statistical highlights.

  • This is India’s biggest T20I triumph at home, and their second best overall, the previous one being a 69 margin win against Sri Lanka.

What’s Next

India now has everything a team needs to become unbeatable and there are only two more departments where the Virat Kohli led formidable force has to demonstrate its excellence. First, they need a dependable opening pair for limited overs formats and secondly, we would like to see them dominate on foreign turf.

However, with the perfect combination of experience (MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Ashish Nehra) and young talent (Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul), it seems that they are already doing great and Virat Kohli has just a tiny bit of work left to make Indian Team the best in all formats.

With IPL and Champions Trophy just around the corner, we are in for another run fest and as for England, they should learn from their mistakes and came back hard the next time.

Here is how Cricket Fraternity congratulated India after a successful completion of England’s tour of India.
