After the success of Indian blind men cricket team, Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has launched a 41-member blind women cricket team. Indian blind men cricket team has won ODI World Cup, T20 Asia Cup and T20 World Cup and their success has pushed the idea of women blind cricket team forward.
The team was launched yesterday in Bengaluru by former Indian women’s team captain, Shantha Rangaswamy who is also the women selection committee chairman. A great demand for blind women cricket team has been there for a long time, said John David, General Secretary CABI. He added that the response they received from blind women was really good and it boosted their confidence regarding the decision which is the reason why they have finally launched the team. He is excited for the team and assured that a lot of hard work has been put by the team members and the committee for their benefit.
It is really good that finally things have been shaping up in the country and we have people who respect an individual’s talent, regardless of their conditions. These men and women might not be able to see but their dreams are as big and important as any other person. It is said that the team would be trained by their male counterpart.
